90 There's more?

"Maybe, but you and I know that my aunts have never made mistakes." I stated with a smirk, "They say I am the lady of the lake, then I will be. Still, you think there is more. You seem to be concern over the piece, overprotective as it is, is that common? Do you have a secret? Why talk about such vain detail?"

"Take it," said Peter quietly seeming to avoid answering my questions.

I held out my hand, and Peter leaned forward again and places the pendant, slowly and deliberately, into my palm. Nothing happened.

"That was dramatic," said Rolland coolly. The knights laughed.

I looked at them. Well, something happened. A few more Knights appeared. Not that they were useful. I would not keep any of them. Truthfully, I rather keep just Rolland and Drake. They were modernized. The others were still dressed in chainmail.

"Is that all?" I asked,

"Not quite," said Peter who look rather pale, his aura had turned again and I saw the worst had happened. Black aura was bad.

"There's more?" asked Rolland,

"Out of you sixty, she requests only fifteen of you remain. Other than Rolland and Drake, she asked for volunteers and let the others move on as soon as they could" he said. "In exchange, the funds will be open to her heir."

"Interesting,"

Drake and Rolland both stiffened. I knew this was the bad part and I look into his eyes. This explained why the council was involved. They did not wish to lose their best trackers and I think this was the reason behind the questioning why had Ninianne made such a will and with her last wishes enforce it against the council wishes.

"Is that why you are here?" I asked suspiciously. "They should get rest, they've been at your beck and call for the last thousand years or so. It must be time."

"Unfortunately," said Peter, "We want to change it but don't have the power. This is her will. There is no other way but to let you be the next lady of the lake and let three fourth of our operations go in our most needed time. Unless you make them choose not, what do you say, Gene?"

I stayed silent.

"You've never dreamed of aspiring into someone important." mumbled Peter,"Minx,"

"Hey, that is rude,"

Nothing could revive the situation. He lost me after the word minx. He really should have known better and control his words. Even I was a better at holding my tongue than him.

"I will honor Ninianne wishes,"

"So be it!" shouted Peter, standing up looking ready to pounce.

I jumped on my feet ready to defend myself but I was a bit slow. The Knights rush and block his every move. I was taken back, this was a first for me.

In my thousand years of existence. I never had subjects or help. I was a loner that was alone. I knew it was bad but every friend I had turned on me. It was ugly. Diana existence didn't help me. The people who were her friends were always wary of me.

"Peter,"

"Forget it. From this time forward it will be your responsibility to catch evil doings?" said Peter breathing hard, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "The task is hard and tiring, are you up for it? My lady?"

"You wait and see then, if I am up to it."

The floor trembled, and before I knew it Peter was on the floor bursting into flames. Purple flames transferred from hell. This was not good.
