27 My soul?

A red head poked in from behind the door. It was the fea from the front she made a hand signal that must have meant he had a guest. He was clearly not pleased to see her. His eyes dilated and thin into a cat-like shape. It didn't scare her one bit.

"I'm sorry. Mr. Knight your nine o'clock has arrived." she said her face clearly avoided of emotions.

"Certainly, it is getting late. It's time for me to go to bed." I made a lame excuses.

"There may be one person who might know more than I do," he said flatly, "I'll talk to her and see if she has anything to say. No promises."

"Can I be there when you talk to her?" I asked just for the sake of asking.

"Mr. Knight is a busy man, GRAY. He will send you a message once he is done." The fea by the door said in a tone as if she wanted to spit me out in each word.

"I'll see what I can do, GRAY. But I do prefer calling people by their given name. It seems more personal and it creates a Bond." he asked flashing his white teeth at me as he stood up. "I also like to meet you again for my answers."

"You can call me Gene if you want. I rather like it." I offered the names my aunts call me that when I did well on tests.

Names have a power all of their own and I wasn't up to offer mine so easily. I was no one fools. I wasn't human enough to act that foolish.

His smile falters as it wasn't the answer he was hoping. He had tried to use magic on me and fail not because I was all that powerful but thanks to my tattoos. There was very little magic could do to me in that area. It was worth the pain and suffering to get them done. I also had added gold thread into my skin not too long ago I really need to go and complete the rest of it fast.

The truth was I am not sorry that I disappointed him. It was a victory for me when investment paid off. I could not help but smile sweetly.

"I apologize for being foolish but it is not over. There are many answers I seek. Until we meet again, Gene." he said as our gaze collided expectedly and the tinge of amusement in the faint tilt of his mouth.

This time his spell worked. I saw some of him, not enough to see it all just a glimpse into his past, present, and future including everything else I cringe as I saw who he was in the side. He was so old that it made me dizzy and tired an unfortunate side effect. It also meant that he'd probably see more of me that I wanted him to see, he too cringes as he pulled away but for a different reason. The future is not all in stone so it wasn't usually in the view but in life, some of the paths were meant to be taken.
