58 Have you seen me?

"I can't believe that I have to wake up to this," Hebe complains, "and I thought Kane was demanding and bossy. He never woke me in the middle of the night and made me work. Bakayarou Busu."

"Quit whining," I told her, cheerfully. "It's almost morning. Let's just say you will regret missing this opportunity."

Hebe grumbled a few more words in Japanese. She'd never been to her homeland but she still inherited the language. I've always been in awe of her impressive swearing skill.

"I need a few truth potions and a finding spell, please." I asked nicely, "Put the kettle on and start boiling. I need to check a few things first and then I'll tell you about my exciting day. It'll be worth it."

"I'll be good if you tell me and let me make a potion." She banters.

"Sure."

"I don't know why you need me. So far you seem perfectly capable those common things by yourself. It's nothing." Hebe whined.

"Why don't I believe you? Have you seen me make potions?" I asked.

Making potions was tricky business and need talent that I don't have. I use to be rated in the same level as those witches that were self taught. Now, I'm rated a maker on the council list.

Familiars help witches cover their weaknesses. In return we give them magic. The number of the familiars is not important and doesn't mean anything but it did help to have more than one. I have two. Hebe and Gorgor both have been in the business long before I was born. They had served several masters before me. Hebe use to belong to a line of alchemist that was famous for its memory potions in France, what people forget can be remembered and they can also retrieve a memories out of a person, very handy for interrogation. Her story that I was told was a male demon had exchanged his own child for a potion to make him forget his beloved mate that had betrayed him. It was six hundred years or so ago. Hebe said she never blame her father but she never forgiven her mother.

My other familiar has an even more interesting story. Gorgor was the opposite of sweet Hebe having betrayed his country. He was banished from the elfin dimension then he was caught by dragons, their enemy. He was freed by a wizard who traded a ruby for him then binding him to a ring.

From then one he lived in the ring. The wizard died and his story was lost. Over the years he was forgotten that was until I found him.
