1 A Problematic Discovery.
(Ok, so a few things to point out first)
(This is a Medium magic setting (between Low and High as there are different dimensions and gods but as you'll see it's not so easy to start conquering the world).
(First, In this world in order to be able to use magic you must have been born with a symbol, that can appear anywhere on the body, then the colour, shape, pattern and size represent what your affinity is and how strong you are in that particular school of magic).
(Second, The Colours and Symbol shapes (they are like the command seal marks from the fate series so they look different for each person and reflect that person's personality but can change if the person's personality changes) are as follows, red = Blood magic, blue = Lighting magic, yellow = Magic Absorption and Redistribution, orange = Fire Magic, pink = Shield Magic, green = Combat Magic, violet = Empath Magic, Black = Shadow Magic and white = Light Magic).
(Third, the rules are pretty strict, you can't teleport long distances, you can't bring back the dead (no necromancy), you can't time travel, "you can't easily perform spells that are not part of your symbol and you can't easily overpower someone with a rival symbol to you but you can open portals to other dimensions but you appear at the halon or main gate of that dimension and you can teleport to places but there has to be a teleport landing symbol where you wish to teleport for example travelling to your house from the market in order to teleport home, you must have a landing symbol there before being able to teleport somewhere").
(With the basics laid down, let's get in to the story)
(Arala, Vigil's study)
Vigil messes with a few pieces of Soul Stone and begins channeling his magic through them and is able to produce an illusion of something else, he smiles and laughs "Haha, I have found a way to alter reality itself, though I should be careful or I will tear the halon" he stops doing it and looks down at his black magic symbol and sighs "I can't believe that this symbol makes people hate me so much" he grumbles and opens a book titled "The Guide To Your Magic Symbols" he opens it and turn to the middle pages.
(The Basics Of Your Magic Symbols)
"The first to know is that you can't easily perform spells that are not part of your symbol and you can't easily overpower someone with a rival symbol to you.
Also certain symbols are more powerful than others for example, the white symbol is stronger than black symbol, and the red symbol is weaker than the white symbol.
The full order of the power poll is like this White = strongest and most rare, Black = 2nd strongest and rarest, Violet = 3rd strongest, Yellow = 4th strongest and rarest, Green = 5th strongest and rarest, Blue = 6th strongest Pink = 7th strongest and rarest, orange = 8th strongest and rarest and Red = weakest and rare.
But this doesn't mean your potential is not good as there is no restriction to how powerful you can be but it will take much longer to do, the weaker your symbol is.
Then there's is the symbol glow which tells you when your symbol is nearly out of magical energy, by having your symbol give out a light which fades if your running out of energy and glows brightly when your at your maximum threshold of energy.
And finally we come to the WAASA diagram or the "Weakest against and strongest against" diagram which tells us which symbols are stronger against each other and which ones are weaker against each other.

White (base symbol), strongest against all symbols except black which is its equal.
Black (base symbol), strong against all symbols except White which is its equal.
Violet (base symbol), strong against all symbols except Black and White which are stronger than it.
Yellow (base symbol), strong against all symbols except Black and White.
Green (base symbol), strong against all symbols except White, Black.
Blue (base symbol), strong against all symbols except White and Black.
Pink (base symbol), strongest against all symbols except White, Black, Violet, Yellow, and Green.
Orange, (base symbol), strongest against all symbols except White, Black, Violet, Yellow, Green and Pink.
Red (base symbol), strongest against all symbols except White, Black, Violet, Yellow, Green, Pink and Orange.
Then there are the Arch and Marked versions of the symbols, these are two different types of the same magic symbols which determine your starting magical energy.
Arch symbols are the incredibly rare with the odds of having at about 1 in 500,000 (fact: that's the same odds as dying in a railway accident in Europe while travelling).
(While the Marked symbols can only be given to humans via the Idarian guardians of the nine magical dimensions (they can give you it as an upgrade if you already posses one, they can also do this to non magical people to give them access to magic but this has only happened once, when Siren, the guardian of the Sky/white dimension gave a marked symbol to a regular human in return for helping her defeat Rila and Zaloth) and are the most rare with only nine humans ever having them and seven of them were used to battle against two other Idarian guardians and their two marked symbol followers called Rila the Idarias of Shadows, the guardian of the Phantom/Shadow dimension and Zalga the Idrias of the Blood Dimension, which was nearly 3000 years ago, this has also resulted in major Stigma between people who hold the other six symbols and those who hold the black and red symbols.

(The nine magical realms are as follows the Sky/Life haven belongs to Siren Idarias of light, the Phantom/Death realm belongs to Rila the Idarias of Shadows, the Dream/Compassion realm belongs to Celina, the Idrias of Emotion, the Energy/Eternal Sun realm belongs to Silane Idrian of Energy, the Will/Life realm belongs to Varen Idrian of Willpower, the Lighting/Hope realm belongs to Saren Idrian of Thunder, the Love/Tenderness realm belongs to Aelia the Idrian/Idrias of Love (she changes gender all the time, while the others stick to one gender), the Lava/Greed realm belongs to Reven Idrian of Fire and finally the Blood/Anger realm belongs to Zalga the Idrias of Blood).
A little extra fact, a mage can technically live forever as long as their symbol does not disappear, this is can happen when a mage has completely drained their soul of any magical power. For context a Mages soul is what allows your magical energy to be channeled through your symbol if your soul is destroyed or removed your symbol will be disappear from your body and you will die.

Vigil, sighs "Guess, I better head to my class before I get another detention" he gets up and heads to his class.

Vigil walks in and takes his seat, earning scoffs, he ignores them and focuses on the teacher "Today, you will all be taking part in a tournament to decide who is the strongest in your year, you have an hour to do with as you please... then you must be back in the arena for the tournament" the class nod and everyone leaves, Vigil heads to the library to read up on the dimensions and spells.

Vigil searches for a book he knows can help him decipher the weird message on his symbol which reads "میرا دولہا"(if you know what it means please don't spoil it), he then feels a slap on his shoulder and turns to see Gareth his best friend who posses the marked red symbol, "Vigil, how ya been" Vigil sighs "Fine, if you count nearly breaking Sigil's teeth and having a stand-off with Solaris" Gareth laughs "I know, he's a pain in the ass, to think he has a marked white symbol yet he acts nothing like a white symbol wielder, he's not selfless or helpful, he's an idiot. He cheated of my paper during the last exam and during the last tournament he cheated by using a magic boosting gauntlet" Vigil nods "Yeah, I know, I nearly killed the guy during the last tournament... only stopped because Solaris kicked off a fuss at me for hurting her brother" Gareth winces "Don't remind me of her... she's a... real piece of work...she's a white wielder through and through..." he notices the writing on Vigil's symbol, "Hey, your not only one with strange writing on your symbol" he shows Vigil his and it reads "מייַן מלך" (again if you know what it means don't spoil it) Vigil thinks for a moment before responding "Might be worth investigating" Gareth nods but then sees Vigils symbol take on a new pattern "No way, dude... your uh symbol just upgraded to marked" Vigil gasps and checks his symbol "What-" the two are cut off by a purple haired girl appearing next to them "Hey guys" Vigil and Gareth breath a sigh of relief "Oh thank god...it's just you Cail, thought Sigil casted another failed spell" Cail laughs "He's done that twice today actually" the three laugh, Vigil then checks his watch and sighs "The tournaments in 10 minutes... we should go before Solaris snitches that we sat the library badmouthing her brother" the three head for the arena.
