Chapter 539 does not matter anymore

Gu Ruochu's body suddenly tensed up. She had not seen him for a long time.

Huo Nanchen stared at her, and his thin lips curled into a mocking smile. He did not panic or run away. His eyes had a coldness and indifference to them.

"You're not picking up your phone. Don't you want to see me anymore?"

Gu Ruochu recovered from her shock and replied calmly, "I'm sorry. I just finished moving today, so I didn't pay attention to your phone calls and text messages. Do you need anything?"

If she had seen his phone calls, would she have picked up?

Huo Nanchen felt a great emptiness in his heart. He would rather have seen her in a fit of pique than see her hiding and torturing him. She was acting callous and cold.

Huo Nanchen feared that she would not turn back.

His wife did not care about him anymore.

"Huo Nanchen!" Gu Ruochu frowned. "I've already signed the divorce agreement. I didn't want to go to court, but I couldn't find you, so I decided to sue you unilaterally. There's no dispute between us over property and children. You just have to sign it."

Huo Nanchen remained silent. He walked towards her slowly, and his gloomy aura grew stronger.

"Since you don't have any other opinions, I'll go up and rest. Goodbye!"

Gu Ruochu turned around, but Huo Nanchen instantly grabbed her arm. His voice was tense and unhappy. "Ruochu."

Gu Ruochu furrowed her brows after she unsuccessfully attempted to break free of his hold.

"Huo Nanchen, can't you say anything else in one breath? Why do you keep calling my name?"

"Come with me." Huo Nanchen knew that she would not listen to him. He grabbed her wrist and pulled her into his embrace. He then took out a small jewelry box from his coat pocket.

Gu Ruochu glanced at it and suspected that it was probably the wedding ring.

In the past, he would buy a gift to cheer her up after they had quarreled. However, Gu Ruochu did not want to give him another chance.

"I don't want it."

Before Huo Nanchen could speak, Gu Ruochu pulled her hand away mockingly.

"Ruochu!" Huo Nanchen gripped her hand so hard that he almost hurt her. He then said softly, "This is the wedding ring that I asked to be custom-made for you overseas. You will like it."

Gu Ruochu could not believe it.

He was still talking about their pitiful wedding even though it had been postponed again!

"Huo Nanchen, the wedding has already passed." Gu Ruochu looked at him with a cold gaze. "Have you forgotten? Last Friday was supposed to be the day of our new wedding. But where were you? You were by Ning Tangxi's side. So, there's no need for the wedding to be held."

Gu Ruochu finally managed to pull her hand away. Huo Nanchen felt the burning anger in his chest turn into a wave of soreness. His voice was hoarse as he said, "She's still in the hospital because of a car accident that happened last week."

Huo Nanchen tried to explain to Gu Ruochu. He then looked at her gently and asked, "Do you trust me?"

"Trust you? The night you left, you told me that you would find Yue Cheng and save our marriage after you found him. I believed you. You didn't come back for a week. I never thought that I would be so naive until you and Ning Tangxi were the subject of an overwhelming amount of rumors. Everyone said that you didn't want me and that I was your spare tire. How can I believe you?

"I know that you two were involved in a car accident and that she is in the hospital," Gu Ruochu continued calmly. "You should keep her company. She was recently chased out of the Ning family home. It was quite pitiful. As for me, you should leave me alone. Although I don't have a man by my side, I will be fine."
