6 CHAPTER 6

The rays of the morning sun began to hit my face and I was soon woken up by it. Unbeknownst to me, I had fallen asleep after crying most of the night. The dried blood of my father can be seen in my entire body. I can't believe that at the same time yesterday my mother was still cooking me breakfast…all I could see now is a house full of pain and sadness, far from the happiness of the past.

I stood up and look at the dead body of my father, and I just tried not to cry again, but still, my eyes began to tear up.

"No, enough crying it's time to bury them", I said to myself as I wipe the tears that were forming in my eyes. I found a shovel in the back of our house and began digging a grave not too far from the house. After digging suitable graves for my parents I drag their bodies to it and close it up. It was actually a miracle that I was able to do this job without resting, I am still a kid after all.

It would take me a few years to realize that the reason why I was getting stronger was due to the fruit I had eaten, it had boasted my physical capabilities.

"What now?" I said to myself. I didn't realize that it was already past noon and I already beginning to go hungry. I went inside that house and all I could find were a couple of can goods. I opened it up and went back to my parent's grave.

While eating I said to myself, "I'm alone again….What should I do at this point?". Looking at the down I could see few people that had survived yesterday's ordeal. I wonder where these people hid yesterday.

"Oh, dear..What happened here?", an old man said as he approaches me.

Despite his age, the man was incredibly built, his black hair was slowly becoming white due to age. He had what you can only describe as an immaculate beard. He has visible wrinkles on his hollow face, which makes him seem gentle in appearance, but his eyes are as sharp as an eagle's. It was clear that the man was often in the sun due to the tan-like color of his skin. When I look at the old man, I felt a scary presence, it was like the old man was a predator who was hiding his fangs.

After collecting my bearings, I said to him, "It's a place where death came knocking".

Hearing what I said, the old man looks at me with a questioning gaze. It was like he could see what I was feeling right now. He then took a den-den mushi out of his pocket and began to call someone. I was introduced to the den-den mushi when I went to the workplace of my father 3 years ago, to say that I was flabbergasted that the telephone of this world was literally a living snail was an understatement.

"Hey Sengoku, I'm in a town in the Kingdom of Tolfa right now…so what happened here?", the old man said.

"Stoner, it has only been a few days, and you're already calling me again, huh. Anyway, the marine branch in the kingdom of Torfa was destroyed by a new pirate group, the Steel Fist Pirates. They were from the west blue and had been making havoc in the grand line for nearly 1 year now….."

The moment I heard his name, Stoner, I was shocked. This old man in front of me was the friend of Uncle Ray in the marines, Vice-Admiral Stoner. At first, I was pissed at him, if only he arrived yesterday then the Pirates who attack would have never been able to destroy the town, they would not have been able to kill my parents.

This emotion went and go as fast as it came, the mature part of me told me that my anger at the old man was stupid. You can't be mad at a person whose only mistake is that arriving late to a place where he could have save the people if only he arrived on the day prior.

After the old man's call ended he looked at me and said, "Come with me kid".

I didn't give him a response, for a while, I just stared at the burial ground of my parents. At this point in my life, I wasn't sure of what to do. I could still learn to use my fruit ability, plus I still have the manual in my pocket. Maybe's that a good option, I guess.

What was the point of being reincarnated though? What was the point in having the parents you always wanted, and in the next second have them taken away from me? Did the powerful being that reincarnated me in this world like playing cruel jokes on me? Was I followed by bad luck in both lives? These thoughts had been plaguing me since this morning.

"Well shit...", the old man said. I didn't look at him, if I did then I would see the awkward look he was currently having as he rubs the back of his head.

"You choose this method kid", the old man said. At first, I didn't know what he meant by this, only when I felt a sudden pain in the side of my neck did I finally realized what the old man was pertaining to. Soon afterward I fell to the dirt ground unconscious.

"Poor kid", the old man said as he looks at the unconscious body of the child in front of him. He then took a quick glance at the newly made graves that the kid made and said, "You must be his parents... It's always sad to see an orphan".

Stoner took the kid to the nearest house and place him on the couch.

"hmmm... This will do", Stoner said and he soon left the unconscious kid, after 1 hour Stoner returned with a sad look on his face. He looks at the kid on the couch and then suddenly in the pockets of the kid he saw something familiar. He took it and he was shocked, the thing in the pockets of the kid was the manual he written a few years back for his friend Ray. A friend he just searched for the last hour, a friend that was now dead due to a bullet wound in the head.

''So, Ray never burned this manual, huh", Stoner said with an annoyed expression but then he sighed. He looks at the kid once again and a thought came to his mind, 'I think I'm going to train you, destiny had made you come in contact with this manual, so why not? If you have the talent to learn how to fight then that's a bonus for me. Maybe, just maybe, I can get this kid to join the Marines', the old man thought as he carried the body of the child on his shoulders. He soon left the now destroyed town, but the direction he was going wasn't the direction of the next town, no, the old man was headed to the forest of the Kingdom of Tolfa. A huge forest were strong and powerful beasts were said to roam.
