56 CHAPTER 56

With the unbridled chaos that the mages of Fairy Tail are known for, they battle their way through the tower all the way to the 3rd floor. No amount of guards could fight them, let alone stop them. They only stopped going up the tower when they realized that they seem to be arriving in the previous location on the third floor. Even if they push forward they would always find themselves in the same location of the said floor. They couldn't seem to go up or down.

Juvia scanned the floor that they were on and said, "I think this place is being controlled by magic remotely. I think that's the reason why we seem to be always finding ourselves on the same location"

"So, whoever is in command of this tower is completely aware of our movements then", Kagura stated.

"Are they trying to provoke us?", Gray added.

"Perhaps, mind games and all that", Enzo stated.

Suddenly a door open on one side of the room, it was a group of guards intent to capture them, "There they are! Capture them!".

With fire covering his hands, Natsu said, "These guys don't know when to quit". Natsu was about to jump to attack the incoming guards but before he could do that someone attacked the guards from their rear.

"BANG! BANG! BANG"

With a flurry of blade attacks, Erza with one sword in each hand quickly took care of the guards. None of them were able to defend themselves as Erza cut through them with great ease.

"ERZA!", Gray shouted.

"THANK GOODNESS YOUR SAFE!", Lucy said with happiness in her voice.

"She is soo cool...", Juvia muttered in her breathe.

Hearing her name being called, Erza was broken out of her trance of battle. With a wide-eyed expression on her face, she said, "What are you guys doing here?".

"What do you mean WHY?! We'd be disgracing Fairy Tail if we just backed off and let them walk all over us!!!. And there's no way I'm letting that square bastard off easy!!!", Natsu said with anger in his voice.

"Go back!", Erza said.

"Why Erza?", Kagura said with concern in her voice.

"You guys shouldn't be here", Erza said.

Enzo remained quiet but he could feel something was up. For starters, Erza always looks at someone straight in the eyes when she talks to somebody. And right now she was having trouble at doing that. It was so unlike her.

"They've got Happy too! We can't just go back!!", Natsu said as he swings his arm in defiance.

"Happy's here?", Erza said with a shock in her voice, "Don't tell me Millianna...".

"WHERE IS HE?!", Natsu said he leans towards Erza.

"I...have no idea"

"Ok, Got it!!", Natsu said as he walks out of the group to find Happy on his own.

"What do you mean, YOU GOT IT?!", Gray asked Natsu.

"Happy is waiting for us!", Natsu shouted as he runs straight to a wall and delivered a powerful punch to make a new way.

"...Well that's one way to make a path...", Kagura commented.

With anger in his face, Gray said, " That moron!!! Running off on his own again...".

"Let's follow after him", Lucy shouted.

But before the two could chase after Natsu, Erza blocks their path by raising her sword, something Enzo reacted by raising one of his eyebrows.

With a determined voice, Erza said, "You can't. Go back. Millianna is the biggest cat-lover around. I don't think she'd hurt Happy. I'll take care of Natsu and Happy and bring them back".

"We can't do that!!! We're not leaving without you!!!", Lucy said in defiance.

"This is my problem. I don't want you guys getting involved"

"We're already involved! You saw how Natsu was!", Gray added.

"Erza, I need you, to be honest with us", Enzo said. All eyes suddenly pointed at Enzo, and he continued, "When I first met you, you said that you were abducted to build a tower. Is this that very tower you spoke of?".

With a furrowed brow, Erza reluctantly nodded.

"Erza, you need to explain everything and this time, don't leave anything behind", Enzo said as he glances at Kagura in his peripheral vision, "For all our sake".

Tears began to form in Erza's eyes as she bit her lower lip. Except for Enzo, everyone was shocked by this. They never would have imagined that Erza, the headstrong mage of Fairy Tail would cry about something.

"...When I first entered the guild...I never wanted to tell Master about my circumstances...but then I saw Kagura...I couldn't stop myself from not telling her something....", Erza said as she wipes the tears in her eyes.

"What do you mean, Erza?", Kagura asked.

"This was the very tower I was forced to work for when I was abducted when I was younger. The tower of paradise also known as the R system. More than a decade ago. A cult believing in black magic, Zeref, tried to build a tower whose magic could bring the dead back to life"

"Bring the dead back to life", Lucy said with disbelief in her voice.

"This project wasn't sanctioned by the government or the magic council, so they rounded people up from all the countries and forced them to work as slaves on the construction... That's when I first met Jellal. They were a group of kids that were just like me. Force to work as slave and Jellal somehow became our leader. After a failed attempt to escaped, I was tortured but Jellal went to rescue me and he told me that we should fight for our freedom... But that ended badly as well. They found him and then they tortured him next. Only when I was returned to my old cell did I thought about his words. Freedom... somehow I gain enough courage and I fought back. I gathered all the slaves and started another escape attempt, this time it was barely successful. I was able to unlock my magic and fight our way out. I told all the slaves to wait for me in the docks while I go find where they tortured Jellal... When I met him again, he was a changed person. If you could ever call someone evil, that's probably what I called Jellal".

While Erza was talking, Enzo noticed that Kagura was beginning to tightly clench the handle of her sword. It seems just like him, Kagura had notice one aspect of Erza's story. Erza said when she arrived in the guild that Simon was part of the slaves that were captured in Rosemary Village and that she didn't know if he was still alive after her escape. But Erza just recently stated that Simon was able to escape and was just waiting for her to get Jella.

'This could be bad', Enzo thought as he continues to listen to Erza's story.

"I told him that we won and that everyone was just waiting for him in the docks. But he said to me that true freedom only lies in Zeref's world. It was at that moment I saw Jellal do magic... he killed all the guards that tortured him...and he did it while having a smile on his face...I tried to make him see reason...but he didn't care about what I thought. He attacked me with his newly found magic and easily defeated me. It was then that he gave me an ultimatum... He told me that I could leave the island but I would be the only one to go...He threatened me that if I were to tell someone of the location of the tower then he would proceed to kill everyone... He said that he would start by killing my friends...", Erza looks at the floor as tears began to fall out of her eyes.

Then out of the somber silence, an angry voice could be heard.

"HOW COULD YOU!", Kagura said as she releases a powerful torrent of magical energy. With incredible speed, Kagura drew her blade and attack Erza with her sword.

A blindingly powerful sword strike then went towards Erza.

"BANG!!!"
