54 CHAPTER 54

KAGURA'S POV

"Thank you", I said to the resort receptionist. She was able to give me information about Erza's whereabouts, turns out Erza is still a well-known figure in this part of the country as well. So finding her wasn't all that hard.

With hasten steps, I went towards the casino. I particularly didn't like to gamble but right now I wanted to talk to Erza about how I should handle Enzo. True, I like that he wants to open up to me but I don't how to do that.

As I entered the casino I could immediately spot Erza. She is playing in one of the poker tables, no doubt earning good money. Plus, even if Erza doesn't acknowledge it, she is fond of wearing revealing clothes. You can find Erza just by watching where the majority of the men were looking.

"Wow, someone is lucky tonight", I said to Erza as I hovered beside her at the poker table.

"Lucky? or Skill?", Erza said with a smile on her face as she once again wins the pot. As the dealer was shuffling the cards, Erza glance at me and said, "So, how was the train ride here?".

"Awkward"

"What's awkward?", Lucy said as she went towards the two of us.

"umm...Enzo...."

"I see..", Erza said as she takes a look at the cards the was handed to her. "Raise", she said as she threw some chips on the table. "Well give it time", Erza said to me.

"I know, it's just weird", I said as I glance around the casino. I could see Gray and Juvia talking at the bar counter. I don't actually know what to feel about that woman. She was part of Phantom Lord but ever seen that war, Mira told me that she had been hovering near the guild. Mostly helping in the construction of the new building but aside from that, I don't really know what to view the woman.

"What! no way! It definitely landed on 17! I saw it!"

Before I even saw the person who shouted, I already knew who it was. Natsu's voice was always so identifiable, even among a crowd. I could see him at the roulette table causing trouble for the dealer. Poor man, he was already sweating heavily due to the problem that Natsu is causing.

"Time for a Dealer change"

I was broken from my thoughts when the dealer in charge of the poker table was switched out. I wouldn't mind this when I suddenly got a gut feeling that something wasn't right. My intuition was proven right when the dealer showed 5 separate cards on the table. Together the cards spelled DEATH.

"Let us bet our lives, elder sister Erza", the dealer said to Erza.

I glance at Erza and I saw something I thought I would never see in my life. Erza became wide-eyed, sweat instantly began to fall out of her forehead, and she became pale white. This isn't possible, it couldn't be...

How could the woman beside me, the woman that was so filled with courage that she was willing to tank a Jupiters magical beam... how could she possibly be...afraid?...

"Shou...", Erza said with a weak voice.

"It's been a while hasn't it", the dealer said.

I was still shocked at what I was seeing that I didn't notice that multiple people entered the casino, only Lucy was able to see what was going on.

"Erza, what's going on? Who is this person", I said as I push Erza behind me. Somehow this person had made Erza afraid, but I won't be afraid. I'll protect Erza however strong this person is.

"Whoever you are---", I couldn't finish my sentence when suddenly everything went dark. People began to shout and commotion began to start.

"BANG!"

'What was that? Did someone just fire a gun? Who is this person? Is he not alone? What is going on?'. So, many questions began to swirl my mind. But right now, the most important thing to do is to make sure that Erza is safe. Somehow I believe that Erza was important in their plans and I won't let them have their hands on her.

And just like that, the entire casino became quiet and the darkness began to fade.

"Over here", the card dealer said as he drops multiple cards on the floor.

"HELP!"

"HELP!"

"WHAT IS GOING ON!"

"THERE ARE PEOPLE ON THOSE CARDS!", Lucy said as she got a good look at the cards that were on the floor.

"I learned magic too", the dealer said to Erza.

"Meow!"

"AH!", from out of nowhere a whip began to wrap around Lucy's body causing her to be incapable of moving.

"Millianna?...", Erza said to the woman who captured Lucy. The woman had brown hair, average height, and had cat-like features.

"I can use magic too, sister", the woman said to Erza.

"What's the meaning of this? Lucy is my friend", Erza said.

Millianna tilt her head and said, "Weren't we, your friends too, Erza?".

With an angry look on Shou's face, he said, "That is until you betrayed us, of course".

I was shocked at what the card dealer said but now wasn't the time to think about anything else. We were outnumbered and outgunned, I need to make sure that we can get out of here and get help.

Seeing that I was the only one capable of fighting, I channeled my magic to deliver a surprise attack.

The attackers were shocked when a seal appeared beneath their feet but I wasn't finished yet.

"What that?!", the cat-woman said in shock.

"Gravity magic", the card dealer as he struggles to get a card from his pockets.

Right now, the two individuals were suffering from additional weight added to their body due to my gravity magic.

Seeing the chance in front of us, I said, "We need to leave now! Enzo is inside the resort. We only need to go towards him then we'll be alright", I said to Erza and Lucy, the latter who has recently got herself free from being bound.

But it was all for naught. Even before we could get out of the casino someone attacked the three of us.

"DARK BURST!"

"AH!"

The three of us were blasted in the different sections of the hotel. This led us to have some minor injuries.

"Damn it", I said as tried to stand up. Right now, Lucy was already knockout while Erza was too...emotionally damage to do anything.

"Don't stand up", a man said as he approaches me. With anger, I channeled my magic but the moment I saw the man's face, my magical energy began to be unstable. I felt like I remember him from somewhere. He had a metal object covering his jaw but even with that, I felt that he was so familiar. Suddenly a man attacks Erza causing her to fall on the floor.

"Erza's knockout", Erza's attacker said.

"No, don't", I said as I got my magical energy under control. I only needed a moment to deliver a counter-attack.

"I can't allow you to do that...Kagura", the man said as he stretched out his hand and made a magical seal, "DARK BURST".

"BANG!".

The moment I heard my name being called by the man, I felt a connection. I didn't know what it was, but I knew I needed to figure out who the man was. Sadly right now I couldn't do it, his spell hit me directly and I soon lost consciousness.
