50 CHAPTER 50

A group of rune knights went to Fairy Tail and began an investigation about the guild war between the top 2 most well-known guilds in the Kingdom of Fiore. They took the still unconscious Jose into their custody and they began talking to both parties involved.

Meanwhile, the Magic Council was extremely pissed about the problem that they had to deal with. The war between two guilds isn't something to scoff at and the Magic Council knows this. Even at this moment, when the investigations are happening they had been reports that the Balam Alliance had begun making moves. This was after the fact that the Magic Council had greatly reduced the threat they could bring in the continent after wiping out some of their smaller divisions. They saw an instability of the legal guilds and they know that the Magic Council's attention was not on them, so they took this moment to regain some form of footing in the continent.

Not just that, even the King of the Kingdom of Fiore had been quite pissed at this outcome. The guild was one of the most lucrative money-making aspects of the Kingdom and he didn't like the idea that people would send their missions to the guilds of other countries. So, he is pushing the Magic Council that he wants all the assets of the group responsible for this mess.

This resulted in the Magic Council speeding the process of determining who was responsible. They wanted to immediately stabilize the entirety of the Kingdom of Fiore and within less than 2 weeks, Jose was stripped of his title of Wizard Saint, banned from making any guild under any countries that were under the jurisdiction of the Magic Council, and had all of the Phantom Lord's properties that could be liquidated given to the King of the Kingdom of Fiore as compensation for the economical unrest that this event gave to his country.

Right after the verdict that Fairy Tail was innocent, both Makarov and Yajima were having a deep conversation with each other.

"Fairy Tail being found innocent was the last thing I imagined", Makarov said to his friend. The war even if he doesn't like to admit was both Phantom Lord and Fairy Tail's fault. To be labeled as innocent without paying any fines was something close to a miracle and Makarov knows this.

"You should be grateful Macky, I spoke in your defense", Yajima said.

"I owe you one Yaj"

"… Macky, you can't be so reckless anymore. We're not as young as we used to be"

"…."

"Many feel that Fairy Tail is too out of control these days. Michelle and Org are actually calling for it to be disbanded. If this keeps up, you will be harshly punished eventually, Macky… Plus if something like this happens again...You won't be any good to anyone if you die, Macky. You need to retire soon. You can't keep this up for much longer"

"… I understand what you mean but..Who do you think should take my place?"

"You have, I believe 4 active S-rank mages. Pick one from any of them, but I for one know that the Magic Council would like for you to pick Enzo as your successor"

"Enzo Lockhart? Why is that?"

"The man has worked with the Magic Council in the past and they're willing to work with a man that they have a history with... plus they'll give him a wizard saint title"

"I see, his battle with Jose had made him a promising candidate"

"If Enzo is to be your successor the Magic Council is willing to give him a Wizard Saint Title on the agreement that you relinquish your title. The magic council won't allow for a single guild to have 2 wizard saints. People may believe that we are showing favoritism to one guild. Which is something we cannot allow, especially to a problematic guild such as Fairy Tail" Yajima stated.

"If you put it that way then perhaps retirement ain't that bad", Makarov said as he considers Yajima's proposal.

THE NEXT DAY:(LOCATION: UNDERCONSTRUCTION FAIRY TAIL GUILD)

"TRY SAYING THAT AGAIN!"

That voice was Erza.

Right now the Fairy Tail guild was officially starting to take missions and people were happy that this was happening. So, people were quite shocked when the voice of Erza could be heard by everyone in the still under construction hall. What could have gotten the S-rank mage so riled up in a time that people should be happy about?

Everyone looks to where Erza was and it became apparently clear why she was mad. In front of her was Laxus Dreyar, fellow S-rank mage of Fairy Tail and the grandson of Makarov Dreyar.

"Since I'm here, let me make things nice and clear. Weaklings don't belong in this guild!", Laxus said as he looks team Shadow Gear.

"Man, you guys are pathetic, letting Phantom make a mockery of you. Actually, I don't even know your--",

"How about me Laxus? Do you think I'm weak?", Enzo said as he enters the guild, just in the right moment to stop Laxus from belittling his fellow members.

"Enzo", Laxus said with hate in his voice as lighting began to spark in his body.

With a smile on Enzo's face, he said to Laxus, "I dare you to fight me, and when that happens it will be the third time I beat you. Hence, making you a weakling".

With an angry look on Laxus' face, he flared his magical energy. People in the guild began to get out of the way, they did not want to be in the middle of the fight between S-rank mages of the guild.

"You just fought Jose. I for one believe that you still haven't recovered. Do you actually believe that you can defeat me?", Laxus said to the man in front of him.

"You can try, but if I'm still wounded and yet manage to defeat you, I wonder what you would feel?", Enzo said smile on his face.

"...tsk...", Laxus said as he calms himself down and said, "Mock my words, I will become the next Master of Fairy Tail and I will kick all of you out of guild". Laxus then proceeded to walk out of the guild.

Enzo just watches the leaving back of Laxus with a disappointed look written all over his face. He really wanted for Laxus to turned over a new leaf and after the last time they fought he thought that he would at least become friendly to the other guild members but it seems that was wishful thinking on his part.

Enzo looks at the members who are watching him and he just said, "As you were". After saying that he went to the bar got a bottle of beer and left the guild.

LATER THAT NIGHT:

"Why did call me?", Enzo said as he was relaxing in the fresh air that the forest gave.

"I want to discuss something with you", Makarov said. In fact, the reason why Enzo was in the guild today was that Makarov contacted him, this prompted Enzo to return to the guild.

"Okay... This seems important"

"It is", Makarov said as he looks straight at the eyes of the man in front of him and said, "I want you to become the next Master of Fairy Tail".

"....HUH?!"
