30 CHAPTER 30

"Good night, Kagura", Enzo said as he tucks the little girl to bed.

"Good nightie", Kagura replied as she closed her eyes.

A FEW HOURS AGO:

After Enzo's removed his magic from Laxus's body, the blonde man left the training ground with an angry look on his face. Laxus clearly didn't want this to be the last time that they fight, he would be out for vengeance and Enzo knew that.

"I WON!!"

"ME TOO!!!"

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

Most of the crowd were sad due to the majority of them betting on Laxus, but then those who bet on Enzo were over the moon when he won.

The combination of both trash-talking and the winners rubbing in that they won, made the losers quite annoyed though. This once again resulted in another brawl.

Enzo, Kagura, and Makarov entered the guild building when the brawl happened. Makarov didn't even care about the brawls anymore. This made Enzo wonder if this was a normal thing even before Master Makarov became the guild master of Fairy Tail.

Knowing that the two of them had no place to sleep for the night, Master Makarov offered them to sleep in the infirmary of the guild, there were multiple unused beds there anyway.

Kagura slept early, the events of the day had made the little girl tired and Enzo decided to tuck the girl in while he tried to see some missions he might take for tomorrow morning. That was the plan but the moment he walks out of the infirmary Master Makarov greeted him with a serious expression on his face.

Master Makarov with both hands in his back said to Enzo, "Walk with me".

Master Makarov without even waiting for a reply immediately began walking out of the guild, Enzo followed immediately when he saw this. Gildarts just glance at the two and remained drinking his beer at the counter. He already had an idea of what Master Makarov wanted to talk about with Enzo, so he remained seated and enjoyed his break from his missions, and continually drank his beer.

Some of the older members of the guild told Gildarts to not get too drunk because he might accidentally use his magic. Something Gildarts just smiled at. This led the older members of the guild to maintain distance from the man. No one wants to be hit by some extremely powerful magical blast.

Meanwhile, Makarov eventually stops walking when he entered deep into the forest near the town of Magnolia. The sound of the forest was calming on a night like this, the sky was clear that the stars could be seen.

Makarov found a huge rock to seat himself on it and just started talking, "As a Master of the Guild it is my job to keep the guild running. This means playing politics with those in the magic council as well as some of other Guild Masters of other guilds". Makarov then looks at Enzo with a serious look in his eyes and said to him, "But my most important job is to protect its guild members, my children", as Makarov was saying this Enzo could feel the flaring of Makarovs huge amount of magical energy.

With a calm look on his face, Enzo replied, "If you want to know something Master, ask it".

Without skipping a beat Makarov asked, "Should I worry about the well being of my children if you are there?".

Enzo looks directly at Makarov's eyes and said, "No". Then for a while, the two of them were accompanied by a hush silence. Only the sounds of the insects in the forest could be heard as the two individuals stared at each other's eyes.

After a while, Makarov sighed and said to him, "As a legal mage, you mustn't kill anymore".

"Even if they are bandits? Even if they slaughter men, and women while they abduct children? Are you telling me that I should not remove people like this from this world?", Enzo said with a cold tone in his voice.

When Makarov heard this he didn't flare his magic, no, he suddenly became sympathetic towards Enzo. He wonders what happened in Enzo's past the made a person like him so prone to killing.

"Killing is not the solution to everything Enzo. Slaughtering one will not change the world", Makarov stated.

"It maybe not, but it will lessen the numbers of people who are currently evil", Enzo replied.

"It may help the world or it may not, that I do not know. What I do know is that you must not spill blood as a mage of Fairy Tail. If you won't do it for the guild, then do it for Kagura's sake", Makarov said as he jumps from the rock he was seated on and left Enzo alone in the forest.

The parting words of Makarov would not have affected the old Enzo, but after meeting with Kagura, and taking care of her, something changed in him. Kagura was still just an innocent girl, a girl whose kindness somehow rubbed on him. Enzo began to look in the night sky and he wonders what would happen if Kagura saw the darkness that Enzo was hiding in his heart, would it rub on her too. He sure hopes not.

Enzo walks backs to the guild, still in deep thought. Now he is in a world where killing is not allowed, something he didn't care about in the past. You could blame being a bounty hunter for that.

Being a bounty hunter allowed him to both extract vengeance and not worry about breaking any laws cause it was legal, now he can't do that here.

The anger that he bore for people like them, scums of the earth was so deeply ingrained in his heart that he doesn't know if he can stop himself from killing anyone like them.

Enzo returns to the now mostly empty guild, only a number of drunk people remained. He went towards the infirmary and for a while looks at Kagura and just sighed. He made a decision then and there.

He will not take care of Kagura, no, he will only watch over her and help when needed but he will lessen his time with her to prevent his darkness from rubbing off her, and hopefully, that will be enough.
