26 CHAPTER 26

"Are we there yet?", Kagura asked as she holds my hand while watching the scenery change from the train window.

"We'll get there when the train stops", I said to her.

"Don't worry kid, we're nearly there", Gildarts added.

A lot has happened in the last couple of days. After Gildarts accompanied us to the nearest town, I thought about placing Kagura in an orphanage, technically it was the best option. This idea came to me during the night I didn't sleep, the night Gildart's slept near us.

Yes, I did tell Arthur and Emma that I will take care of Kagura, but I for one know that I'm not suitable to take care of a child, that's why the orphanage was the best idea for Kagura.

That was until Kagura heard me asking the people of the town if they had an orphanage. She cried her eyes out begging me not to leave her, and she was also tightly holding my hand as if I about to disappear from her sight. I may be a killer but I'm not cold-hearted, so I eventually ended up throwing that plan away and decided to take care of this kid.

This event may have made Kagura afraid of being alone, cause after that event she would always hold my hand wherever we go. This became problematic every time I needed to go to the restroom, I didn't what people to look at me like a pedo. So, I had a conversation with Kagura about this, it worked but she will always hold my hand when we were together though.

Since Kagura wanted to stay with me, I had another problem. I needed to find a job so that I can get a house for both me and Kagura to live in. That's when Gildarts offered me a chance to join Fairy tail.

FLASHBACK

"You can join, Fairy Tail. You have a powerful magic ability, you'll do well as a wizard", Gildarts said.

"Okay, I need to tell you something. What is Fairy Tail anyway?", I asked Gildarts. Don't blame me for the lack of knowledge I have of this world, you can blame Kuma for that.

"You don't know? Were you living under a rock or something?", Gildarts joked at me.

"HA.HA.HA.HA. So, funny", I said to him sarcastically.

"I'm just messing with you. Fairy Tail is a guild that is located in the Town of Magnolia, which is part of the Kingdom of Fiore. Now a guild is basically an organization that you join in order to get jobs. The jobs you take depends on your power level. I'm an S-rank so I can take the more dangerous missions promptly label S-rank mission", Gildarts said.

"What type of jobs?"

"There's a lot, escort mission, rescue mission, taking out monsters, and some others that are extremely specific, like example stealing a book, stuff like that", Gildarts explained.

"Oh, I see. Does it pay well?", I asked him.

"If you're powerful enough, yes", Gildarts with a smile.

"We'll that's the plan then", I said.

"Good, cause I was also planning to return to the guild anyway. I'll take you there", Gildarts said.

END OF FLASHBACK:

We soon arrived at our destination, we exited the train station and saw the town of Magnolia.

"Magnolia has a population of 60,000 inhabitants and is a merchant city that has been prosperous in Magic since the ancient era", I said to Kagura.

"How did you know that?", Gildarts asked me.

"When the two of you went to sleep, I had strike conversation with some of the passengers in the train", I said to Gildarts.

"Oh"

Suddenly we were removed from our sightseeing when the entire town began to move.

"AH!", Kagura screams as she was afraid of what was going on. The house would either move, up, or down, left or right until eventually, a clear path was in front of us.

"What the heck is going on?", I asked to no one in particular as I was shocked why the town move like that.

"HAHAHAHAHA. Come on kid", Girldars said as he walks on the clear path.

"Come on, Kagura", I said to her. Kagura held my arm tightly and we soon caught up to Gildarts.

"Gildarts, you better explain what's going on", I said.

"Well you see", Gildarts began to rub the back of his head and continued talking, "This is called the Gildarts shift".

"HUH?!"

"I have a problem in controlling my magic sometimes, and the people of this town were getting tired of it, so they solved the problem by giving me a clear path to walk every time I return to the guild", Gildarts said with an awkward smile on his face.

"What!?"

"This is just newly installed actually, in fact, this is the second time I'm walking on this path", Gildarts said.

Seriously man! What type of mess did you make that an entire town with a total population of 60,000 collectively decided that this was a good way to solve the problem? Seriously, how much money did the entire town needed to pull just for them to make this path for you?

I was so incredibly speechless that I just walked along the path with Kagura leaving behind Gildarts. Gildarts with a smile on his face just followed us.

We eventually got to the end of the path and we saw the guild that we came here for Fairy Tail.

Fairy Tail headquarters resided in an imposing building, it took on a shape reminiscent of a pagoda. The roofs also bore a great resemblance to those of real pagoda, consisting of extremely long, arched tiles lined up one after the other and possessing simple curved protrusions jutting upwards on the building's angles. On the highest point of the building, a flag was dancing in the wind.

Gildarts push open the doors of the guild and the first thing I saw was two men fighting with their fists, and on one side of the room was a man who was clearly taking bets.

'What did I get myself into?', that was the thought that was coming into my mind the moment I saw the inside of the building.
