35 CH.32 - Miserable Rabbit.

It was a girl with rabbit ears running away from it with a half-crying face.

''…Enkai just let her…''

Enkai was surprised since it usually him who was cruel not the other way around. He still nonetheless nodded since he didn't want to help her in the first place.

''…Yes…it was I would like to say at first but the rabbit is bringing monster towards us, let me kill them and have rabbit for dinner''

Enkai didn't wait for a response as he unsheathe his katana and ran toward the monster.

The monsters behind the girl felt danger coming their way but before they could register what was happening they were split in two. Blood gushing everywhere. The rabbit girl state was not any better, as if it was intended she was covered in the monsters blood.

Behind the now dead monster Enkai sheathed back his katana. His white jacket devoid of any blood. He went back with Yue who was looking at him with a questioning look.

''What ?'' Enkai asked, his eyebrow raised. He was also a bit disappointed since the 'strong' monsters were weakling, he didn't even used a skill, it was pure swordsmanship and strength.

''Why did you left that rabbit alive ? Aren't we eating rabbit later ?'' Yue responded by another question, a bit annoyed.

''*Sigh*Yue…I like the gentle you more you know ? She asked for help, it's not like this place is dangerous, at least for us. Plus, seeing a rabbit girl for real picked my curiosity. As for eating rabbit…I just want to throw up when thinking about it, I spent weeks eating that.''

''…Nn'' While still a bit dissatisfied, Yue nonetheless nodded.

''…Yue this is not the labyrinth anymore, we don't need to kill everything we see, I am not saying that we need to make friends or anything but when you can help do it, it could be beneficial in the future…but as I said before if someone or something is on our way we will destroy him alright ?''

''I know'' With a lovely smile, Enkai responded to Yue.

''Anoo, I don't want to disturb you but can someone help me ? Please ?'' It was only now that the two remembered that there was someone beside them.

The rabbit girl was crushed under one half of one of the two monster, the sight could make anyone else throw up as the half crushing the rabbit girl was on the inside part.

''…Yue drop some water on her please'' Enkai asked as he didn't want to stain his white clothe with the blood.

Still a little bit resentful about her time being disturbed, Yue made a geyser and aimed at the rabbit girl

''Oi, Oi, Yue isn't that a bit to—''

The rabbit was thrown in the air before falling on the ground headfirst, her butt in full glory as Enkai discreetly admired the view.

''Huff…huff…it was mean !'' The rabbit girl said while getting up and send a glare toward Yue

''…Hmph'' Yue didn't even looked at her.

''Wait…how did the two of you used magic here ?'' The rabbit girl was finally getting her senses and was shocked.

''We are just this strong'' Yue boasted to the rabbit girl.

Enkai just stayed silent, he felt that he could use magic but less efficient. But the white purplish energy could be used freely. He still had this familiar feeling about this energy as if he already used it or saw it, but he didn't recall anything from before coming to Tortus, and he didn't believe that magic existed on Earth.

Talking about the white purplish energy, Enkai could finally throw attack only composed by this energy without resorting to use it on his weapon. But he refrained as this was really dreadful, the last time he used it on azantium, the ore was cut in two piece and the side melted. It was a small attack

''Anyway rabbit girl, what's your name you didn't even introduce yourself, from what I know this is kind of an execution ground, are you a bad rabbit ? And let me tell you, I saw some bad rabbit, they are all dead.'' Enkai said, the threat was obvious but the look on his face was the one of someone reminding some good old time

''…Nn, bad rabbit'' Yue added, this little hag still hold a grudge Enkai thought, earning him a glare by the former.

''No, no, no, no, no, Thank you so much for helping me! I am from the Haulia Rabbitman Tribe. My name is Shia! I'am not a bad rabbit! Please save my tribe!"

''Let's leave her'' Enkai said and turned around.

''Nn…Shameless and suspicious'' Yue added.

"Waiiit~, don't leave me behi~ind! Pleasee~!!" The rabbit girl, Shea pleaded desperately clinging to the hem of Enkai's coat.

''Let me go or I swear I will eat you toning'' Enkai looked at her with a predatory glint in his eyes

''Hiiiii, wait please don't eat me'' Shea let go of Enkai and went behind Yue, it was ridiculous since Shea's 'asset' were on Yue's head. The latter growing more and more irritated by the minute.

''Don't you feel guilty inside for abandoning a helpless, beautiful girl?!" Shea added.

Unfortunately she didn't get to talk anymore as Yue punched her in the jaw and was sent flying once again.

A few minutes later the three were seated on some rock while Shea was glaring at Yue the latter didn't care, and Enkai had an amused smile on his face.

''…So what's the matter with helping your tribe ?''

Shea then explained, her tribe, the Haulia Rabbitman tribe, one of the hundred Rabbitman tribes, used to live quietly in the <Haltzena Sea of Trees>. Members of the Rabbitman tribe have excellent hearing and stealth skills, but their stats are low compared to other demi-human tribes, and because of that, they are ranked lower compared to other demi-human tribes. They are gentle and dislike fighting, and treat the entire tribe as one family. In addition, rabbit-eared women generally had excellent figures, different from an elf's beauty. Because they are cute, they are often caught by the empire to be enslaved, as they are in demand.

One day in the Haulia tribe, one of Rabbitman tribes, a girl was born with an abnormality. Even though Rabbitmen normally have dark blue hair, that child's hair was white with a blue hue. Moreover, she had magic powers that demi-humans shouldn't have: the ability to directly manipulate magic and a peculiar skill.

Of course, the tribe was greatly puzzled. Here was a child that couldn't be born to the Rabbitman tribe, no, that any demi-human tribe. The baby had powers similar to a demonic beast, and so would be discriminated against in any tribe normally. However, she was born into the Rabbitman tribe that shared a deep connection as a clan of a hundred. So the Haulia tribe decided to raise the girl.

However, if her existence were to be found by the demi-human country of Faea Belgaen, she would be executed for sure. That is how much they despise demonic beasts. The law of this nation was that as soon as a demonic beast is found, it must be annihilated; any citizen seen allowing a demonic beast escape would be exiled. In addition, any demi-human capable of using magic would be discriminated against by humans and demi-humans alike. If a tribe was capable of wielding magic, they would've been eradicated by both demihumans and humans alike.

Therefore, the Haulia tribe hid the girl and raised her in secret for sixteen years. However, her existence was exposed. Because of that, the Haulia tribe escaped out of the <Haltina Sea of Trees> before getting caught by Faea Belgaen.

The plan was to go to the northern mountain area for the time being because they could produce products from the mountains for a living. Although it was uncivilized, it was better than being caught by the empire or a slave trader.

However, their attempt to flee was crushed by the empire. Even though they escaped the <Haltina Sea of Trees>, they were immediately found by the empire's soldiers. It was unknown why the soldiers were there, but after encountering one squadron, the Haulia tribe had no choice but to run away to the south.

Though the men tried to obstruct the soldiers to buy the women and children time to run, the difference in battle potential between the trained empire soldiers, who could use magic, and the gentle, peaceful Rabbitman tribe was too great. By the time they noticed, half the tribe was already captured.

The rest kept desperately running away to avoid annihilation and arrived at the [Raisen Great Canyon], and entered as it was their only path to avoid enslavement. Indeed, the empire's army didn't enter. The tribe decided to wait here until the army retreated. The tribe was hoping that the empire's soldiers would withdraw before the monsters attacked.

However, the empire's soldiers didn't try to withdraw at all. They decided to wait at the canyon entrance, positioning themselves by the staircase down into the canyon. They waited for the Rabbitman tribe to come out when they were tired of being attacked by demonic beasts.

And that was what happened, the demonic beasts attacked them. After being attacked, they couldn't wait for the empire to retreat anymore. Between escaping the canyon or fleeing from the demonic beasts, the Haulia tribe decided to escape further into the canyon. That was why they jumped into the depths of hell…

"…. Of the 60 people that entered the canyon, only 40 are left. My tribe will be annihilated if this keeps up. Please help us!" Shea finished.

''Urgh…'' Enkai had a headache while thinking about it, there were on their way toward the <Haltina Sea of Trees> So they needed help from a Demi-human to guide them through it but the enemy was the Empire, while Enkai could easily smite them, he didn't want to be meddled with the Human side affairs this soon.

''Let's help her Enkai…'' Yue agreed, she reached the same conclusion as Enkai but this was one of their only choice, not many Demi-Human could help them.

Understanding Yue, Enkai also agreed, '' Alright, if we come in contact with humans I can just wear a mask''

''Be grateful shameless rabbit, we will help you, in exchange guide us through the forest''

Shia cried with joy. However, she immediately stood up because there was no time to lose.

"Uummu, I look forward to working with you! Wh-what should I call you…?"

''…Yue''

''Enkai, just call me that'' Not bothering saying his first name (A/N : Or last ? Since in Japan it's not like in Europe so…)
