1 Prologue

The wind started blowing around the trees, making the leaves rustle against the branches. The night air seemed to fill with electricity as the upcoming thunderstorm neared the small village of Cape Breton. The villagers were home sleeping, except for the few night owls that couldn't sleep.

Following a few sparks of lightning, the villagers heard the rumbling thunder. There was something eerie about this night. During a brilliant flash of lightning, a beautiful goddess appeared in the village. She was draped in this magnificent white dress, that looked to be made out of silk. Her hair was long and black and her eyes were piercing blue. She scanned the area, her eyes landing on a man, who she has been watching for a while. He was watching this dazzling woman from afar, hoping not to be seen.

As she neared him, he could see that she was holding something in her arms. She seemed nervous and scared.

"Will you please tell me your name, sir?" The lady asked. Her angelic voice sounding confident but scared. She could feel aura's and knew him to be a good man.

"My name is Duncan, may I help you?" He said unsure of what was happening. He was out all day at every orphanage with his wife but they couldn't find a baby. All the kids that the orphanage had, were above the age of ten. Not that anything was wrong with them, but he and his wife wanted a baby.

The man was exhausted and was taking his time getting home and that's when the lady appeared. He was shocked by her beauty. Duncan was curious to see what she was holding in her arms.

"My name is Camarilla, I am the Goddess of Dragons. This is my daughter Cassidy." the Goddess said. Duncan stood there shocked and in disbelief, but then again she did appear out of a flash of lightning. So who was he to disbelieve her? He thought dragons were just legends. This small village was founded around the legends of beautiful creatures.

"My world is far too dangerous for her, I would like you to raise her until she is of age. Then she will meet her mate and will need to take over as she is the next in line to be the Goddess. That is... if you are willing?"

The man bowed to the goddess and promised to cherish her daughter like she were his own. Camarilla told Duncan all he needed to know about dragons. She also gave him a letter and told him not to give it to Cassidy until her 18th birthday. With the last lightning strike, the goddess disappeared, leaving her precious daughter behind.

Duncan hurried home with the baby and kept the secret of the goddess between his wife and himself. Nobody needed to know about Cassidy's true identity.
