Chapter 1

Cassidy's POV

BEEP... BEEP... BEEP...

I woke up to my alarm clock ringing. I groaned and smacked it. I looked at the clock, reading that it was 6:45 am already. Realizing that school started today, I got up and grabbed my outfit for the day. It consisted of a pair of washed out blue jeans, that had a low rise. They were tight at the thighs but loose at the feet. I chose a black tank top that went a little low and showed just enough of my chest, but not enough to be called a slut. And also I chose a white cardigan to finish my outfit.

I walked out of my walk-in closet and went to my dresser to grab a pair of matching bra and panties. With all of my clothes in hands, I walked to my bathroom and jumped in the shower. While I was washing my hair, I lost myself in my thoughts. It was the first day of grade 11 and I was really nervous.

We had just moved here two days ago, and I was going to a new school. We now lived in Montana, in a small village named Silver Creek. It was near the Yellowstone National Park. I didn't get to go visit the village yet but it looked really nice.

Finishing up my shower, I got out and got dressed. I towel dried my hair and brushed them. I decided to let them lose today. Grabbing my bag, and headed downstairs.

"Good morning Sweety!" my mom said as I got to the kitchen.

"Good morning mom!" I said excitedly.

I was nervous but also really excited. Last year was rough, I had to learn that I was adopted. My mother, the one that gave birth to me, was the goddess of all dragons. I wasn't human like my adoptive parents. I was actually a dragon shifter. I hadn't shifted yet, they told me I would shift on my 18th birthday, and then after I would find my mate. my parents didn't know who my father was, but they told me how they came to meet my mother, and even though I am angry at her for leaving me behind like I was nothing, I do understand why she did it... It must have hurt her a lot just to leave me with strangers, not knowing if they were going to follow-through as promised.

"Sweety! Stop daydreaming or you're gonna miss the bus!" My mom said while snapping her fingers in front of my face.

"Shit!" I said, snapping out of my thoughts. I only had 5 minutes to run to the bus stop.

Grabbing my flats and my bag, I ran out of the door. I got to the bus stop just in time. I was the first person on the bus because we lived on the edge of town. Putting my headphones in, I pressed play to listen to my music. Not long after my music started, my right tone went off, indicating that I had received a text.

DAD:

Have a good day at school honey! Sorry I couldn't be there this morning... XOXO

After reading his text, I smiled. At least he remembered it was my first day at my new school. We moved here because of his transfer. Some wealthy people lived here in this private community, and my father was their head of security. They had specifically asked for my father, which I thought was weird because my father wasn't that known in the private security field yet.

CASSIDY:

It's okay dad... Have fun meeting your new boss :P

DAD:

They invited us over for dinner tonight. So be prepared and dress fancy...

I sent a quick "okay" after that. I didn't really want to meet the people that caused us to move here, but at the same time I couldn't help but be excited. More kids started to fill the bus as we neared the town. I was in the back of the bus trying to avoid eye contact. I was really shy when it came to meeting new people. Luckily, I went unnoticed until we arrived at school.

The bus stopped when it got near the school entrance. Everybody got out and I was the last one to step out of the bus. As I stepped out of the bus, a lot of students noticed that I was new and didn't belong in the school yet. Putting my head down, I walked to the school entrance. Finding my way in the long hallways, I finally found the front desk, where I could get all my paperwork.

"Hi... My name is Cassidy Blake and I'm a new student." I said to the lady, who was sitting behind the desk. She had white hair and looked to be in her sixties.

"Welcome dear, my name Susanna." She replied while typing on her computer. The printer went off and she went to grab the papers. "Here's all your papers. There's your schedule, map of the school, locker number and also your locker combination. Welcome to Silver Creek High!" She handed me the papers and after taking them, I thanked her and told her to have a wonderful day.

Walking out of the office, into the hallway, I looked down at the map and tried following the directions it was showing me so I could go to my locker. Walking with my head down, trying to read the directions, I walked face first into a wall. Before I could fall on the floor, a pair of arms reached out to steady me. I looked up and realized that the wall was, in fact, a 6 ft and 5 in tall, and a really hot guy.

"I am so sorry!!" I said, blushing really hard. He had black hair and green eyes. The stranger in front of me was really built and tall. I bet that under that shirt he totally had a six-pack. He had a smirk playing on his lips as he noticed that I was totally checking him out.

"Are you done checking me out, Princess?" He asked making me blush even more.

"Sorry! I'm new here... I was just trying to get to my locker following this map. I didn't see you there." I said trying to apologize to him again. "My name is Cassidy Blake."

"Blake?... Would your father be Duncan Blake?" He asked me curiously. "And my name is Nathaniel Jetts. I'm Zane's best friend. He hired your dad for his private security."

"Nice to meet you Nathaniel, and yes that is my dad," I answered. "I gotta get to my locker before I'm late. Was nice meeting you." I told him before heading back to the direction on the map. I didn't let him answer back before walking away and after 3 turns, I had finally found my locker.

Putting in my combination, I opened my locker and put my bag in it. Looking at my paperwork, I checked out what my classes were;

Period 1: English

Period 2: History

Period 3: Art

LUNCH

Period 4: Science

Period 5: Gym

Skimming over my classes I realized that I actually loved those classes so it should be a pretty good year. Now, some people might consider me a nerd, but I was a straight-A student. I had never had a boyfriend because boys are distractions. I concentrated at school to be able to have good grades and go to veterinarian school.

I looked at the map and headed to my next class. It had taken me awhile to find my locker and the chit chat with Nathaniel, I had missed my first class. As soon as the bell rang to say that the first period was over, I had reached my second-period class.

Walking into the class, I went to talk to the teacher. There was a 10 minutes break in between the classes and so I had some sort of privacy to speak to the teacher.

"Hi, my name is Cassidy, I am a new student to your class," I said to him. He was a pretty average teacher. He had some salt and pepper hair that were really short. He was about 6 ft tall, and he was maybe in his early 40's.

"Good morning Cassidy, welcome to Silver Creek High. My name is Mr. Patterson and I will be your History Teacher. Here is an extra textbook, please have a seat." He said while giving me the textbook.

Grabbing the textbook, I decided to go take a seat at the back of the classroom near the window. I was looking out the window when I saw someone staring at me from afar. I couldn't see who it was from how far they were. I must have zoned out because next thing I knew, the bell rang and the class was filling up with people.

Zane's POV:

I woke up this morning feeling fresh. I had met this she-wolf in the bar last night, and she was still sprawled out on my bed. I nudged her, my wolf was urging me to kick her out. He was acting really strange but I still listened to him.

"Hey... You gotta leave. I'm jumping in the shower and by the time I'm out you better be gone." I told her using my Alpha voice on her. She got up, got dressed and ran out of the room. I chuckled to myself.

Jumping in the shower, I washed my hair and my body, and just as I was getting out, my beta Nathaniel was mind-linking me.

"Hey Bro! You should see this new human chick that goes to school! She is one fine piece of ass..." He told me. "She's your new head of security's daughter. Her name is Cassidy Blake"

"Nice! I might have to come to check this out, what grade is she in? Maybe she's got gym class." I replied laughing. This should definitely be an exciting day. I had just taken a job as a teacher to give me something to do during the day since I didn't have much paperwork to do.

I went to my closet and grabbed a pair of jeans and a V-neck t-shirt. After getting dress, I walked out of my room and headed downstairs to make myself some coffee. Once the coffee was done and inside a travel mug, I headed to my garage to grab my motorcycle. Putting my coffee under the seat, I climbed on and headed out towards the school.

Once I got to the school, my wolf Yakanov was starting to get anxious. He kept repeating the word mate. I was looking around, maybe she was near. My eyes landed on this girl, she was sitting in the history class by the window. I couldn't tell who she was but the instant my eyes met hers... My wolf went silent as if he was telling me that this was our mate. She was beautiful, from what I could see.

I suddenly jumped when the bell rang signaling to the students to head to their next class. Meaning I was late for my gym class.

"Yo Nathaniel?" I mind linked my beta. I was curious as to who this girl was and if she was that new girl he was talking about.

"Yes Alpha?" He answered right away.

"Could you take a picture secretly of the new girl and send it to me?" I asked him. I used my serious voice so he wouldn't question me too much about why I wanted a picture. Maybe it sounded creepy, but my wolf and I needed to know.

"Sure boss! As soon as I see her again I'll take a selfie with her and send it to you... Are you doing a background check or something?" He asked sounding unsure as to why I was asking for a picture.

"Yeah, something like that." I replied shutting the link off so he wouldn't ask more questions.

All day, my wolf was distracted. I couldn't wait until the day was done, so I could go home and let my wolf free. The bell rang signaling it was the last break before the last class of the day.

I was setting up the things I would need for my last class, as I was planning on playing dodgeball this time when the most enticing smell assaulted my nostrils. It smelt like vanilla and cinnamon. I whipped my head around to find the source of it, when I saw the most beautiful girl walking towards me.

She had long brown hair and hazel eyes. Her lips looked so kissable from where I was standing. My wolf was going insane yelling "Mate!"

"Hi, I was wondering if you can tell me where I can find Professor Zane?" She asked blushing. She was so adorable.

"You are speaking to him, I am Professor Zane. How may I help you?" I asked her trying to sound nonchalant.

"My name is Cassidy Blake, I'm a new student here. I just wanted to introduce myself before class started." She said blushing and keeping her head down.

**God she's beautiful** Yakanov said.

**I know... but she's human, we have to be careful. I really don't wanna screw things up with her...** I told him. I really wanted to take things slow with her as I have been looking for my mate for ages.

The bell rang signaling the class was starting. All the student were sitting in a half circle in front of me.

"Alright group! We have a new student today. Cassidy, please get up and introduce yourself." I said loudly to the group. I saw her blush and get to her feet.

"Hi, My name is Cassidy Blake, but my friends call me Cass or Cassy. I just moved here 2 days ago from Cape Breton. I'm an only child and yeah that's pretty much it." She was blushing and I could tell she hated to be in the spotlight.

Cass sat back down and I started to explain the rules of dodgeball and divided the group in two. Once I had the teams all set up and playing, I sat on the bench and started watching her from afar. I was pretending to mark them so she wouldn't see me glancing at her.

**God she is so beautiful!** My wolf said to me.

**You already said that haha can we focus on the rest of the class?**

I continued to look at the class to make sure everything was going okay. A she-wolf from my pack approached me.

"Hi Zane" she purred and put her hand on my shoulder. I had to act normal as there were humans around and I couldn't reveal our identity.

"Yes Brittany?" I replied still looking at the class and making sure the unmated males weren't too close to my mate.

"I was wondering if you were free tonight, you know to repeat last night?" she said seductively putting her chest against my arm.

" I won't be sleeping with you or anyone for that matter" I mind linked with her, totally ignoring her and her attempts to change my mind. When I looked up I could see Cassidy looking our way. She seemed mad and confused probably wondering why she felt this way. I wanted to go to her, but I could see the way Brittany was looking between Cassidy and I, and I didn't want anyone to know I had found my mate yet.

Brittany frowned as I wasn't listening to her. She huffed and left just as the bell rang signaling the end of the day. All the student left and I was left alone with my thoughts while cleaning the class.
