Chapter II: My Friend

June exited the building to go to the cafeteria area. She walked to the engineering building which had a few restaurants in its basement. The area was full of students. The noise of the chatters echoed through the place. The place held all kinds of students from study-holics to Athlete-douches. June looked around trying to find someone to spend time with until the next class lecture with her light steps dancing between the tables.

At the end of the hallway, her friend Millie was sitting in a table alone. Her eyes looking left and right for something, and her face as pale as the moon with worry and fear surrounding her for a reason that was yet to be known. Getting closer June noticed that Millie was wearing similar clothes to the crying girl that was running in the hallways.

"Hi Millie!" June said as she sat down next to her.

"Hello June." Millie replied gloomy as the night.

"You ok? You seem a bit under the weather." June asked with a comforting voice.

"I'm just not feeling well today."

"Did something happen or anything?"

"Something was bothering me. It was ..." Millie stopped talking suddenly.

"Millie you ok? What was bothering you?" June asked in worry.

"Noth...nothing was bothering me. I'm fine" Millie stuttered like a gun was held to her head.

"Did something happen in the building next to the church? I saw you cryi....."

"I SAID I'M FINE!" Millie stood and screamed with her fists hitting the table.

Everyone in the cafeteria was looking at them in confusion. The air became tight between them, June was astonished from the reaction. She only wanted to help, to ease Millie; but to have this kind of backlash took her by surprise.

"Will you sit down?" June tried to ease Millie "I'm sorry if I said anything wrong."

"I need to go." Millie responded while her eyes teared up. She started walking away with her arms cuddling her body, protecting it from someone. June stood up and held her arm as she said "Wait a minute. What is going on?"

"Go away!" Millie flicked her arm from June's hand, but June reached out for Millie's arm again. Millie raised her arm and slapped June as hard as she could, tears running down Millie's face, and emotions flowing from both of them. Millie's eyes were red like a rose on a rainy day. Eyes that were burning with passion one day are now full of despair and emptiness.

"I hate you for what happened that day" Millie expressed with her red eyes piercing June. Millie took her bag and ran away. June reached for her bag and walked away shocked. Emotions took control of June as she was unable to identify what she was feeling. Her body walking her to somewhere empty where she could let go her of herself and let the emotions bleed from her. Time passes, hearts broken, but life keeps going.

June collapsed behind the engineering building as her legs could not hold her any longer. She leaned on the wall and hugged her knees. Tears falling to the ground like raindrops and a heart hemorrhaging with emotions.

"Something is going to happen to Millie" It whispered.

"Go away." June said as she waved her hand in the air.

"Don't you remember? You will have to save someone." It reminded June.

"Just leave me alone," she continued crying. "please."

"Millie is going to die" It stated with a whisper sharp as a knife.

June stopped crying and lifted her head up. "What do you mean Millie is going to die?" June started panicking.

"Breathless, Soulless, and cold like the ocean by the end of the day"

June stood up in a fright. The fear rushed in her veins like a poison, and her mind became foggy.

"Where do I find her!" June shouted at It, but there was no reply.

"Where is she? Just tell me where!" June desperately kept on shouting in every direction, yet to no avail.

June opened her phone and tried to call Millie. she was redirected immediately to voice mail. She rushed to her bicycle with one aim in mind, to find Millie. She cycled to Millie's house in hopes of finding her. June's hands knocking on the door, or more like hitting it to the point of breaking. Millie's mother opened the door in a panic.

"June what are you doing?" She asked scared like a cat. "Is everything ok?"

"Is Millie here?" June asked, face pale as the snow, eyes holding back tears, and a look of despair.

"No, she didn't come back yet." She replied in a worry.

"this is not happening again." June mumbled.

June picked up her bicycle and started looking for her. She searched the town for her. The restaurant where they always eat, the place they usually meet up at, her grandparents' house, and the beach. Yet, Millie was nowhere to be found as if she disappeared with the wind.

Time passed, it was the sunset and Millie was still missing. June sat by the beach lost. Her energy drained, tears falling from her eyes in misery.

"Millie," She whispered to herself. "where are you?" A whisper light as a feather, faint like a heartbeat.

"You lived it once in your dreams. You will live it again today." It whispered.
