1 Chapter 1: The werewolf bounty hunters in space.

Where do werewolves go when they are hunted on their home planets? They go into space.

What can they do there? They become the hunters.

Werewolves need moons. The best place to find moons is in space, particularly when you have one of the fastest spaceships in the sector.

Dal-kel had been hunted on his own planet. Every time there was a full moon he would turn into a werewolf, he would hunt and kill livestock of the other farmers and eventually he would become the prey. He had no control over himself but came to the realisation that he would rather be a werewolf and use his mighty power than a poor farmer making a dire living on one of the furthest outposts on Coobal Nine.

He had stalked the docking bays at the space port for months waiting for the right ship, his plan was brilliant. What he had not planned on was the fact that a ship from Coobal Four was due in, and on board were prisoners... captured werewolves.

A ship and fellow werewolves, what more could he want. He would only have one hour to work as the first moon would rise at the 74th prime.

It was a crew of three and they were transporting their four captives to the capital planet. There they would be experimented on, their blood sampled and used to build the hybrid trackers that were so important in the distant wars.

He watched as two of the crew disembarked from the ship. One went into the main office while the other went straight for the local hotel. This was his chance, he stalked in the shadows until there were no witnesses and he jumped on the man. Any idea that he could show mercy were gone as he had seen the public murders of other werewolves. People were the enemy, even if he was a person for most of the time.

Carefully he put on the clothes and took the security badges from his victim. With his hat pulled down over his face he did not look too dissimilar to his victim.

Re-entering the spaceport he had no issues passing security. Prisoners wanted to escape, not break-in to the secure facilities. The card worked on the door and he was into the ship.

"Dra-raq is that you?" came the solitary voice from the navigation deck. Those were the last words of the pilot.

Dal-kel rushed to the hold and saw the four prisoners held under laser chains to the wall.

"Gentlemen, I have a proposal for you," he said. There was some movement and groans from the prisoners, because they had sacks over their heads they had no idea who was speaking to them.

"If I free you, I want you to work with me, challenge those who fear us, and along the way earn a lot of money. If you are with me, raise your hand.

Slowly the four prisoners raised their hands.

Dal-kel moved between them slowly removing the sacks from their heads. They blinked at the light, which they had not seen for weeks.

The five men looked at each other, there was still some uncertainty in the room.

"I am Dal-kel of the family kel. I am a werewolf and I am tired of being hunted. We have ten minutes until the 74th prime and we need to get this ship fired up and away before they know what is going on. There are no pursuit ships in the area and I think we have twelve sectors before anyone would be pursuing us.

With that he opened the laser chains and allowed the men to stand.

"Anyone who wants to take their chances on this planet is free to go, but there is a whole system out there full of treasure and I want revenge on those who track our kind."

Within minutes they were on the flight deck, there were three seats, Dal-kel would pilot the ship, Rin-kon, a former soldier would navigate and Del-ros would be on tactical. They had a lot of experience between them.

The security was low, and with no moon visible they rose slowly to avoid any suspicion. They gained height and Dal-kel radioed in their plans to space control before they would see the moon on the distance and transform.

With a course set in, not too fast to arouse suspicion, but fast enough to make good progress, Rin-kon plotted a course to a remote planet where there was not a moon, and they could plan their future without transforming every night.

As the ship left the atmosphere the rays of the moon became visible over the horizon and one-by-one the blood curse hit them and they started their transformation.

If we were to not be scared of werewolves and study them properly we might find there is a lot to learn. There had been attempts to experiment with their blood, to extract their muscle tissue and harness their rage. Governments had planned on creating armies full of transforming drugs, but nobody had yet been able to harness the power. Hundreds of prisoners were used in experiments. Every single one of them died with rage when the moon rose. It was not transferable, and so werewolves were then hunted so that nobody else could try to use their powers.

They fled across the universe, there was a legend that on planets with many moons they could live as werewolves for the whole cycle and built a civilisation, but there was no trace of where this might be or where the story had originated.

And now Dal-kel and his crew were moving into the void, once out of the moonlight they transformed back into terrans and the process of getting to know each other cold begin.
