The anticipation after the knock on the door is killing. Darrien is a little too calm for me right now. I know that it will come as a surprise if I find Maddie home but I pray silently that she ends up being home. I don't want to have to face her parents, I don't want to involved in this. If it comes to it, I will do whatever I have to. 

''It's taking a while," Darrien nags impatiently. 

I roll my eyes "Hold on a bit, I hear them coming to the door." 

Immediately the words leave my lips, the door opens revealing David—Maddie's father. He frowns immediately he sees me; this is the reaction I get from them. They have never been fond of me so I didn't expect any more than hostility. 

"What are you doing here?" he asks me straight to the point. 

"I need to see Maddie, please."
