16 His Group of Friends

Qi Zheng stared at the marriage certificate in his hand for a long time.

The more he looked at it, the more he thought that he had made the right decision. Although Feng An Yu thought that he was crazy, Qi Zheng believed that marrying Yun Shu was the right move.

At least, it will save him from a few troublesome matters in the future.

The phone on his side buzzed continuously.

Qi Zheng picked it up and saw that his group of friends was currently active.

This was the group of boys he had grown up with. When they were in school, Zhang Yu Han had convinced the five of them to join the basketball club.

They often accompanied him to practice and later, won a few tournaments together.

The six of them were close and often stayed together even after a few of them got married.

Qi Zheng tapped his finger on the screen and saw his friends' messages.

Every one of them was curious to know about his marriage. Qi Zheng did not have to guess that the person who had told everyone in the group was no other than Feng An Yu.

"Qi Zheng, we heard that you finally got a marriage certificate," Lin Xiao Feng wrote.

"That's right. We heard that you practically dragged that pitiful woman to the Civil Affairs Bureau," Su Ming Yuan texted. "When are you planning to let us meet our sister-in-law."

"Qi Zheng, you got guts!" Zhang Yu Han spoke. "Come. Let me applaud you. Anyway, did your grandfather know about this?"

"You guys were supposed to advise him! Not encouraging him to do something this crazy!" Feng An Yu complained.

"My wife had recently given birth to triplets. Their milk powder and diapers are expensive." Wei Jun Hao seemed to like repeating these sentences. "Qi Zheng, I can't afford to give you such a thick envelope."

"Wei Jun Hao, are you showing off again?" Zhang Yu Han wrote.

"Brother-in-law, I don't dare to," Wei Jun Hao replied.

Then, Zhang Yu Han replied to him with a few cursing words. Even though Wei Jun Hao had married his little sister, Zhang Yu Han still found it uncomfortable when Wei Jun Hao addressed him as 'brother-in-law'.

Qi Zheng ignored the two and typed, "I will arrange for a meeting soon. But, please keep this matter a secret from my family."

The five of them understood that Qi Zheng did not want his family to know about the contract he signed with the girl.

His friend continued to tease him, but Qi Zheng closed the chat and texted Wei Jun Hao personally. "Jun Hao, have you found out what I asked you to look into?"

"I already send the file to your email."

Qi Zheng clicked his email. Finding the file that Wei Jun Hao had sent to him, Qi Zheng send another text to him. "Thank you."

"Qi Zheng, I already said to you what needed to be said," Wei Jun Hao's reply came a few seconds later. "Since you decided to go on with this marriage, then I can only wish you good luck."

Contrary to what Feng An Yu believed, Wei Jun Hao had given Qi Zheng his advice the moment he heard about the contractual marriage. As a friend and a lawyer, Wei Jun Hao had told him the pros and cons of this marriage.

Since Qi Zheng believed that this was the best way, Wei Jun Hao had to respect Qi Zheng's decision.

"I know."

Qi Zheng closed the apps and clicked on his email.

Soon, Yun Shu's personal information came into his view.

Qi Zheng read them carefully and decided that he had made the right decision in choosing her.

...

Just before dinner, Qi Zheng sent a text to Yun Shu with the location of the restaurant.

Yun Shu decided to head over to the restaurant with her mother and grandmother first and met with Qi Zheng there.

Because of the situation of her marriage, Yun Shu felt a little guilty and needed time to compose herself.

When they arrived, Yun Shu stared at the restaurant in front of her with a dazed look in her eyes.

A while ago, she had thought that the name of the restaurant was a bit familiar. However, because she was too anxious, Yun Shu did not pay too much attention to it.

Now that she was standing in front of the building, Yun Shu realized that Qi Zheng had booked a room at the luxury restaurant that she would never afford to dine in.

"Yun Shu, are you sure that this is the place?" Xu Yuan whispered. "I heard that the food in this restaurant is too expensive. Could it be that there's another restaurant with the same name?"

"It can't be..." Yun Shu frowned. She send a quick text to Qi Zheng and was assured that she was standing in front of the correct restaurant.

"Miss Yun, you should go in first with your elders." Qi Zheng texted. "There's ten minutes of traffic over here. I will arrive at the restaurant in a bit."

Yun Shu reread his messages over and over again. Then, she turned to her mother and spoke, "Mom, let me go and check with the waiter first."

Xu Yuan nodded. "Alright. You go ahead."

"Mom. You and Grandma wait here first." Taking a deep breath, Yun Shu walked over to the door and gave Qi Zheng's name. The waiter flashed a smile at her and spoke, "Are you, Mrs. Qi? We have already prepared a private room. Please come with me."

Yun Shu turned to her mother and grandmother who were standing at a distance away. She waved her hand at them and the three of them were ushered to the private room that Qi Zheng had booked together.

The room that Qi Zheng booked was facing a beautiful flower garden. The sound of the water streaming from the fountain was very relaxing.

This was the first time that the three of them had entered this restaurant. Of course, they could not help but look around a little bit.

After a while, Yao Ying inched closer to her daughter-in-law and whispered, "This person should like our Yun Shu a lot. Otherwise, he would not book such a grand place."

Yao Ying was very satisfied with the man that Yun Shu wanted to introduce them to.

However, Xu Yuan was worried. To be able to book such a place like this would mean that the man's background was not that simple. All her life, Xu Yuan only wished for her daughter to have a simple life.
