Chapter 10 - Prologue

[Driiiing, Driiiing, Driiing][6:45]

[Tap]

-HELL NO! - He screamed internally as he tapped the stop button on the phone. -Fuck I gotta get up and go to school!! Damn It's so boring-.

A gray-eyed 19 years old teen boringly got up from bed. He was a scrawny dude barely 58 kg at 180 cm. His only 3 redeeming physical qualities were his pitch black curly hair, his incredible metabolism which prevented him from gaining weight, and his brain.

He opened the wardrobe, grabbed his usual outfit consisting in a pair of random black trousers, a t-shirt, and a hoodie, dressed up, and then dragged his feet downstairs to the kitchen while letting out a loud "yawn".

He got close to the coffee brewer ready to make his usual espresso only to notice that a warm cup was already resting near the microwave 'thank you mom'.The boy was lost in his thoughts while sipping on his cup and was abruptly interrupted by his older sister "Skipping breakfast again?" Chiara asked. In all response the teen glared at her then without saying a word went through his normal toilet routine, then he put his backpack on his right shoulder holding it only by one strap and walked out the front door.

The House was quite close to the bus station 500 m or so he quickly reached his destination, as he walked past the bus sign a guy laying on the wall stated "fool", instantly he got his reply "dickhead, dumb, mediocre and lastly, weak!". This was part of their daily routine.

The bus reached their location and stopped with the screeching noise of the brakes. The two crossed their gaze "time to push!". There were simply too many people waiting for the school bus so, since there wasn't a seat for everyone, if you didn't want to spend the duration of the trip standing, which was especially burdensome in the early morning, you had to push your way in before the other students. This was their last year of high school which meant that they were super experienced about that shit. They pulled the newcomers away and quickly got on the bus and took a seat in the 5th row on the right exactly like they have been doing for the past 2 years.

The two guys we are talking about are called Deimos and Mase. Both of them are introverted nerds to the core. If they didn't have almost every interest in common and an extrovert friend linking each-other they probably would have never became friends. Not only they shared the passion for anime, manga and games, but also their warped vision of life and society.

When the bus was fully packed it slowly departed, and Deimos and Mase lazily relaxed on their seats. Like most other days Deimos had sleep bags under his eyes.

"Another all-nighter?"

"Not a full one, I got at least 2 hrs of sleep."

"Man I don't know how you manage to get so little sleep and such good grades. Besides why the fuck don't keep a normal sleep schedule?"

"For the hundredth time… Most of the people that I boost are from America so the time zones don't match very well, besides I have plenty of time to sleep at school."

"Still you can't beat me at math."

"Whatever you say. On a different note I think that your training is starting to show some results."

Mase's face changed to a gloating expression. He was quite a tall dude being almost 190cm, like Deimos until a few months back he was skinny almost in an unhealthy way, but out of nowhere he started training and became at least average weight. His jawline was quite defined, short Brown hair and eyes. Quite a few people including his friends told him multiple times that he could have been considered fairly handsome if he took care of himself.

"Trust me you should train too."

"No and you know why."

"Yeah, yeah, no matter how much you train all it takes is one bullet."

Mase recited in an almost monotone voice.

Mase was a year older, but he had to repeat the year so he didn't graduate yet, however that wasn't because he lacked intelligence or anything of that sort he simply didn't open a single book for a year in order to dedicate more time playing games and reading mangas. In spite of all of that he still aced all math exams.

After they got off the bus the two slowly walked to their classes as if they were going straight to their death. Deimos sat at the last desk of the last row in his classroom and waited for the end of the courses.

Unfortunately, the two weren't in the same class, Deimos was attending computer science while his friend chose the electrical engineering course.

The day went on with nothing unusual happening. Even during breaks the duo tried to avoid talking and social interactions as much as possible, not that someone would try to drag two loners like them in conversation anyway.

As the courses ended they basically rushed out from the school building. Their institute was pretty big; with around 2 thousand students it was quite famous in their province.

When Deimos got on the bus Mase had already taken a seat. The curly sat near him and explained his thoughts on an anime that he concluded recently. After a few minutes of ferociously arguing about what would have actually happened to the manga world if the laws of physics were taken into account the two quieted down and fell half-asleep.

For no particular reason Deimos suddenly snapped out from his nap. He felt incredibly restless while looking around, he rolled up the left sleeve only to see his goosebumps. It all happened in less than a second.

[ROooooOoaaar,Cracksssss]

"Holy shit!Aaargh!Shit!"

Everyone around him was screaming or cursing. Deimos felt a strange sensation as if he was on a rollercoaster. Time seemed to move at a slower pace. In what probably was less than a second he looked outside, only then he realized that the bus was flying several meters above the ground while flipping in the air, for a split second he saw a strange colossal being which looked like a Chinese dragon, then it all became dark.

"Now you see?" she shouted in a tone that was somewhere between annoyance and disappointment. "You can’t outsmart Scrients! They’re the most intelligent beings across the two realms!" "You’re right," I muttered, averting my gaze with a solemn sigh. "I made a mistake. I was arrogant to think a mere human like me could fool them." —BOOM!! "...Wh-What was that?" "Hmm? I’m not sure. Maybe you should go and ask the most intelligent beings across the two realms. Oh wait! You can’t. I killed them all." --- My name is Samael Kaizer Theosbane. On the last day of high school, I got into a fight with a kid I used to bully. It was a stupid and pointless scuffle. And in the middle of it, I tripped and smacked my head on a rock. That’s when the memories came flooding in… Memories of a different life. Memories of another world. Suddenly, everything made a twisted kind of sense. I realized two things. First: I was inside a game I used to play in my past life. Second: I was a villain. A villain! Not the cool, mysterious, tragic kind either! No, I was the worst kind of cliché — a spoiled, insufferable, and arrogant young master. The sort you'd find in those poorly written fantasy stories. You know the type! The one everyone hates. The one the hero would beat into the ground to show everyone just how strong and righteous he is. Yeah. I was that guy! My fate was to be a stepping stone for the main characters, be manipulated by a Demon Prince, and die a dog's death. And the hero? The hero was the same kid I’d been bullying all this time. The one I just got into a fight with. He was supposed to be the savior of this damned world. A world teetering on the edge of destruction, beset by wars, calamities, and a grim future that only I knew. And waiting at the end of it all was the final antagonist. The unbeatable nightmare. …The Spirit King. But could I even make it to the end? Could I really survive in a game where defeat was the only certainty? A game that had now become my reality? “Ah, fuck it.” I had no idea if I could. But I sure as hell was going to try. Extorting extras, manipulating main characters, altering the story to my advantage, stealing the hero’s cheat items, killing villains long before they could become threats — nothing was beneath me. Would the main characters be affected by my actions? Excellent! Would the story change? Even better! All I cared about was me. My survival. My life. My choices. “I’ll live this life with no regrets.” ...But as I soon discovered, fate wasn't so easily changed. And the price of rewriting your destiny was steep. ========== Discord Server: https://discord.gg/VjFQtDUaTR
