1 Waking Up

'My head really hurts….'

This was Mike's first thought upon waking up. It felt as if there was a cut on his head, hurting so badly that it seemed as if his skull was about to crack apart.

He thought that he was just having a bad dream about dying in a robbery. Well, to be honest, he did not care if the dream was real or not. All along, he was hoping to finally be done with his life in that boring world.

He was but a typical 24 years old guy who merely work an average job and after he finishes his allocated hours, he doesn't even go out to have fun with his friends since he didn't have any in the first place.

So he instead goes back home, cause his fun is only reading novels and playing video games, and that was his life till he died with a wide smile.

After stabilizing himself for a few seconds, Mike took a look around him, and to his surprise, he didn't find himself in his room, but instead, he was in a room that looks like those old movies or the ones they speak of in novels, like the medieval Era.

A wooden table added up with two chairs facing each other, a window, but calling it a window is a little bit overkill, so let's just call it a hole in a wall, and a simple wooden bed that he was sleeping at.

' Maybe I died and now I'm either in heaven or hell or in another world like those novels? Well, let's simply get up from this bed and go out to take a lo..".

However, before he even finished speaking, he felt like tens of millions of needles were being stabbed into his brain, while countless images were being rapidly woven into his head

But everything went away after a few seconds like nothing ever ensued with him and the pain was just an illusion caused solely by his imagination.

' What just happened to me?'

A lot of memories washed him over.

Checking what just occurred with his brain, Mike noticed that there were a lot of memories inside of his brain that didn't belong to him, like a total life experience that wasn't his own at all.

' Is this… reincarnation?' He still clearly remembered the dagger penetrating him from behind one that was impossible to evade with his lack of reaction On top of that, this type of house made of wooden planks was considered an ancient antique in his old world, and would definitely not be used in a world that was dominated by advanced technology.

After organizing the new memories in his brain, Mike gained some insight.

' Heaven and hell I was thinking, seems like I really got reincarnated into another world, and the owner of this body that was called Mike as well is even your typical bullied guy and piece of shit in the family '.

' Well not like I care anyway, he is gone and this body is now mine. First, let me check where I'm and how is the situation of this guy that I probably possessed after his death '.

'Well it is pretty nice that I'm alive and not dead, however, I will have to make full use of this second chance so I can finally be able to do whatever I want, and finally be free like I always wanted ' Mike deeply sighed with emotions recalling his past life that seemed to be more like a cage for a brief second.

He casually started browsing through the memories that were just added to his brain. Trying to figure out a little more about his current situation.

He got reincarnated into a below-average clan which is barely living in a village called Gazing Moon. Well, as he kept scrolling through the memories he noticed that they were pushed into this state after they got kicked out of their town when they were a tier 2 clan.

'No wonder this guy is getting bullied and can hardly achieve anything in life ' realization downed upon Mike when he saw that piece of information.

He only had one sibling which was a little sister, yet it wasn't that simple at all as this sibling of his was way more talented than him and even planning on taking his life so she can please her lover.

' Yeah well, the first thing I should do after stabilizing myself is to get the hell out of this village. I ain't interested in living in another family, my last one already taught me enough that I don't even wanna start thinking about it .' His feelings went into turmoil for a second as he suddenly recalled his family.

Although he had taken over this body and even its memories, he was still very different from the original Mike His clan members who had spent years with him, would easily be able to tell the difference. If they mistook him as being possessed by a demon and perhaps run a thorough investigation on him, it was extremely likely that he would be discovered and killed.

This realm was in an era that was similar to the European Middle Ages. But there was something more to this world than that, the presence of a mysterious force. The presence… of magic, and even martial arts at that.

' I wonder if those people that can annihilate kingdoms and empires singlehandedly exist. This is honestly super cool and exciting but at the same time kind of terrifying since I'm so weak right now '.

His eyes glowed with a bright light as he looked like he already figured out what he will do with this second chance.

Which is gonna be to reach the pinnacle of all in this world, after experiencing the boredom he felt in his past life and how he got killed without even having the ability to protect himself and change his fate, made him feel so insignificant and angry at the same time.

And all he wanted to do in this world that seemed to allow people to get stronger than what a human being could ever hope to achieve in his past life is to become like them and be able to do whatever he wants, and that's his goal towards real freedom, which is power.

He quickly shoved these thoughts out of his mind as he started placing all the pieces of information together. But he was suddenly interrupted by a creepy voice before he even think of anything.

Hearing the cold robotic voice, Mike was a little puzzled and even terrified by this at first, but right after, it was all replaced by an enormous feeling of joy.

' Of course, they won't throw me into such a world without any support, my luck isn't that bad to the point where I'll be reincarnated to my death .'

I would have probably died in a month with that personality of mine and without some sort of cheat. But now, my goal will be a little easier to achieve with the system's help, but wait, does that mean I'm the main character?

Well even living peacefully here I might end up dead cause of some expert passing by, that didn't like how the village looked and didn't suit his taste so he simply decided to raze it to the ground.

Moreover, this is a fantasy world and I won't be surprised to find people that can annihilate cities if they feel like it, that's of course if they are strong enough to do that, so thank the Heavens I'm safe here cause this is simply a remote village and meeting such people is close to zero.

'Okay let's first check this', Mike calmed himself down and did what the robotic cold voice told him to do, thus, he didn't waste any second and promptly called out the system in his mind.

With that action of his, a transparent blue screen appeared in front of Mike out of nowhere that had his information attached to it.

Mike was at first eager to check out his stats, However, after taking a look at them he almost fainted from how weak his body is, and to be precise, everything except intelligence is below average.

You might ask how he knew that he is weaker than average, but that's honestly easy to figure out.

His intelligence is 14, so that's probably a little bit above average or average at best, however, his other stats are way below 14 so that's probably below the average of what a normal human should have at his age.

'Well at least my intelligence is high I guess, even though I don't think that will be of any help to me if I'm facing a life-and-death situation '.

Thinking up to this point Mike was gonna check the stats that showed MP and Abilities when he suddenly heard the robotic cold voice ringing in his ears again.

Mike was at first baffled by this sudden turn of events, but after reading the notifications again, he almost fainted from the intensity of the anger that filled his soul in that split second.

After all, he didn't even spend a few minutes in this new world and someone is already trying to kill him, isn't he supposed to be the protagonist that will have it easy the moment he woke up and find treasures whenever he went while killing enemies much stronger than him, what happened to all of those scenarios?

' What is this weird situation, it doesn't look like your typical main character '.

Mike decided to push those thoughts into the back of his mind for now and start by giving full attention to his current crisis.

Mike mumbled after stabilizing himself and his thoughts, "system, get rid of it"

Mike was speechless at how useful and fast the system was, but he first decided to check what power the system plundered, so he began browsing through the invading soul's data.

Chokatabra, a Demon that once led his empire in an attempt to control the Continent of Aysou, because of how powerful he was, the top three Existences in Aysou continent that had their Empires built there, banded together and killed him, since their benefits were at stake and the risk of living with chokatabra was high enough to threaten them after their long period of stability.

Because of detecting the system inside the host's soul while being transported to this world, he tried to obliterate your soul and take over your new body and that special thing attached to your soul.

Reading this, Mike felt a chill run down his spine, he even felt his blood kind of freezing while his breath and heartbeat accelerated.

He was an ordinary person in his past life, and now he is being told that a powerful demon just attempted to take over his body cause of the special thing attached to his soul. Even a person as cool-headed as he, couldn't imagine that such a thing will happen to him from the get-go.

'So does that mean if those powerful people sense my presence then I'll be doomed?'

As if reading his thoughts, the cold robotic voice of the system sounded in his ears again giving him an answer.

[Host is safe, the Demon only detected the system because it was in the operation of being transferred with your soul to this world, so unless you die and reincarnate again, the host is safe from people learning about the system].

Seeing this, Mike heaved a deep sigh of relief, his heart calming down, and his face regaining its past white color.

He couldn't help it, cause if those existences can detect the system, then he is literally a dead man walking, and it would be better to stay in this village till he rots and dies, but with the system's confirmation, he relaxed.

After calming himself down, Mike went to check the portion of the demon's power that the system informed him about.

Let's at least hope whatever the system plundered from that Chokatabra is something overpowered, or else who will pay for getting me scared at that time? Ah, being weak is really a sin in such a world, that even if you don't do anything you might somehow end up dead anyway.
