It might look odd why Mike is being tested alone in the first place, but that's honestly how things work in large sects and everyone approves of it.

In large sects like the Blood moon sect, not anyone is able to apply for the test to join the sect, much less take the exam itself.

Their wall of entry is truly so high, and people will even have to be born with at least affinity towards two elements, and their talent will have to be one that can take them to tier 4 at least, of course, some other points are included as well.

However, all of that is fairly reasonable and that's why everyone approves of it in the first place, this is not some common sect after all, and joining it will 100% make your Cultivation journey way easier and faster than what you will get from other sects.
