5 Chapter 4: A New Year

Wandering through the forest has been a bit more difficult lately with all the snow on the ground. I went to visit Bosques again. She's doing fine during this cold season. I still wonder how she stays warm in that old home. As long as she's doing good, then I don't care about all that.

She has told me about this big dog that's been coming to her house from time to time. It's been lucky to survive in those woods for so long. I hope the dog is doing well in that cold world out there. Eventually after so many visits, I finally met her husband, Reloj. He's just like her, kind as can be and talks almost like her, but a few of his words are more well spoken. I don't mean that in a rude way.

It's almost December 31st, Christmas time and New Years. Everyone loves this time of year. But I decided to waste most of this month exploring the woods.

"Didn't grandpapa get mad?" the light voice asks.

"He did get mad a few times. In the end, he understood why I kept going into the forest," I reply as I smile.

"Does he still live there?" the voice asks.

I nod, "He was born there and he'd die there, in that same house. That's how much he loves his house and the town he lives in."

"I can't wait to see grandpapa!"

"Soon you will," I say, rubbing his head, "soon you will."

This time, I went deeper into the woods than I have before. I decided to stop by Bosques' home and say hello.

"What's with all 'em stuff you got there? Decidin' to run away from home?" Bosques asks jokingly.

"Papa hasn't driven me crazy yet," I say with a chuckle, "I'm going to go deeper into the woods."

"And you sure that's a good idea 'n this time of weather?"

"I'll be fine. I made sure to pack up just in case."

"And New Years is right around the corner. Won't your father be mad when you're not there?

"He's too busy these days to really care. Too many people being idiots on the roads and everyone robbing one another."

Bosques chuckles, "People never learn." I wave at her before heading off into the woods.
