Ice and Fire

It's been four months since she came here. She's seen dramas, experienced ups and downs all over. The most challenging mission is coming soon.

Even though Erika's feeling for the General is genuine and sincerely hoping they will have a chance even though it's moving slowly.

As General König wakes up from his sleep, Erika waited for him to get ready.

"General, I want to tell you something. Julian and Noah are coming to see you tomorrow. They are also bringing another person that you knew before. James told me that person is the one who tortured you when you were in high school."

General König didn't say anything.

"General, if you want to say something. I will wait. Yell or cry if you need too. No one will judge you." Erika was feeling a bit more confident than before.

Erika waited patiently for the General to answer. After several minutes of waiting, he began to talk.

"Erika, I don't remember my past. I don't know myself anymore. I don't remember anything relating to Julian's parents. What did I do? Did I really murder them? It's all too blurry." Erika gently embraced him. The General lowered his head, feeling disappointed in himself.

"I am happy you opened up to me. I will help you remember. You didn't kill Julian's parents because you said it yourself. I trust you. I'm here for you. I won't leave you. Let's go through this together. If you don't feel well seeing Julian or Noah, just hold my hand. I will help you." Erika smiled.

"It's okay. Everything will be okay. I will never leave you." She held his hand firmly.

"Erika, I am a burden to you. Am I right?"

"You're not a burden. You are unique and special at least to me." She smiled.

"Tell me the truth, Erika." He asked.

"No. You're not. The reason I'm here is because I like you." Erika was happy she confessed two times to the General but never got a reply.

"Why do you like me? I murdered lots of people already. You should've left me then. I don't deserve anyone. You should find someone else." Erika shook her head.

"General, I already made up my mind. I won't change it. I want to be with you when you are in the dark and being with you when you are happy. You wanted someone to be with you and understand you, right? No one enjoys being alone and being misunderstood. If you let me, let me be on your side. We'll get through the storms together." Erika embraced the General and he clutched onto her.

"Do you know why I like you?" Erika asked.

He shook his head.

"You have a warm heart. Even when you are cold and rigid, you cared for your people. You are great leader, you carried the burden of your whole team. You are handsome too. That's a plus." Erika smiled as she hugged him.

That night, Erika got her reply. General gave Erika a long embrace.

"Erika, thank you." General König gave his reply.

"I'm sorry for not noticing earlier. You were beside me at my worst. You were always so patient. When Julian and Noah left me, I didn't know what to do. Before I passed out, you were there. When I was in pain, you were there and you never gave up on me. You didn't complain because I wasn't giving you enough attention. You always thought about me. I really don't deserve you. I... really want you to stay." General was looking down and waiting for Erika's reply.

Erika was ecstatic and embraced the General.

"I knew you would open up to me. I understand it was difficult for you. But now, I want to see your smile."

"That will take some time." His cold icy attitude came back again. Erika sighed, "Fine."

"Take your time. You can talk about your past when you feel like it. Let's take one step at a time." Erika smiled and he silented nodded.

"Erika, don't leave." She agreed.

"You will need lots of energy tomorrow. Sleep now." Erika stayed with him while he quickly fell asleep. Erika finally won over the General who used to be so cold hearted. She was glad the General loosened up a bit. She was determined to heal his scars no matter how deep or dark it is. The General must've bottled up a lot of emotional trauma from before. Erika stayed beside him while his nightmare reoccurred.

"I'm here, don't be afraid." She whispered. Suddenly, the General grabbed her wrist really tight. She held on to his hand while he slept.

It was morning, sunlight came through the window and bird starting to chirp. Erika woke up and stretched.

"You came back late last night. Where were you?" Sarah asked.

"I was with the General." Erika smiled.

"Oooooh, what did he do?" Another nurse asked.

"Was he good in bed?" Erika smacked them with a pillow.

"Nothing happened." Erika ran out to cool herself down.

Erika will wait as long as he needed. As she headed to the General's room, he was talking to the advisor. She was glad he got healed physically but his psychological state still wasn't stable.

Erika took a deep breath and knocked.

"Good morning, Erika!" The advisor smiled.

Erika smiled and she turned to the General.

"Good morning, General König."

"You can call me André." Both Erika and the advisor were both dumbfounded.

"General, are you sure I can call you that?" Erika asked.

"Then, should I take it back?" The General said.

"Nonono! I will call you, André. It's a nice name." Erika mouthed the Advisor, help me. The advisor winked at her.

"General, Julian told us to meet him in his office. He changed his mind." The advisor updated us.

"Erika, come here." Erika obeyed and went to General's side.

"Stay with me. Don't leave me." He tightly hugged Erika.

"Let's go together." Erika said with a smile while hugging the General.

As they hold hands, Erika felt accomplished and she smiled stupidly.

"Oooh..." The Advisor was happy and was silently cheering for us.

As they head out, Helen and few other nurses were outside chatting. When they saw us, their mouth dropped.

"What's wrong?" Erika asked.

"You... and the General actually got together? Girl, how did you do that?" One nurse gasped.

"Good morning, General König." Then suddenly all eyes were on General and Erika.

"Erika, should we go?" General looked at her. Erika smiled and said bye to Helen and the others. The General nodded at them before they left. They held hand as they got into the car.

"Wow. Look at them. They are actually a pair now. How did Erika do that? What medicine did she use?" Other nurses were still surprised.

"General was so cold before. Like actually, he was quite scary. He definitely changed. He's warming up to Erika. But why didn't he say good morning to us?!" Sarah was secretly upset.

"I know right? Did he even see us?" Other nurses started to question too.

"His eyes were so glued to Erika. I doubt he noticed us." Another nurse kind of laughed.

"Let's get back to work, guys! Otherwise, the lead nurse will nag at us again." Helen said.

After they were finished, some of them headed back to their room.

On the way to their rival group, Erika looked outside. Thankfully it isn't half bad, Erika was missing her home. Her father whom she hasn't seen for a long time even though they work in the same building, sometimes he went out of town. Erika sighed as she remembered her past. Things changed in a blink of an eye. Now, she's the General's woman. She is very proud of the General. No matter what happens, she will always stay by his side.

The General gently slid his hand between Erika's fingers. She held on tightly and gently reassured him.
