1 Who am I ?

I opened my eyes, my memories, gone, I can think in a language unbeknownst to me, but what is language? Where am I? Who am I? I was thinking all of these things and I noticed, the world was moving very slowly around me. I could see what I somehow knew as a tree to be slowly blowing in the wind.

I quickly looked around and noticed, I was in a forest of some sort. Why am I here in this place, at this time? If I want to be in a different place it will require me to be at a different time, so I tried to stand up but realized, I didn't have full control of my body. I quickly remembered that with time, the terrain changes, and society moves in. I could try and sleep till a society forms nearby and someone finds me. No wait that's stupid, my body may require sustenance within that time, I don't know my own body yet.

Wait, I'm getting off track, let me assert the first things I must know;

1- How to move my body.

2- Where am I?

3- Where is food.

4- How I will kill animals if I can only eat meat.

5- What am I?

6- Why am I here.

With all of it assorted, I currently tried learning to move my limbs and I successfully nudged my arm. Currently I couldn't move my head, but I could think still, so obviously I wasn't a stupid creature, this eliminated anything below a human sense I'm on land.

I quickly figured out I had two arms, two legs, I currently could bend my legs and figured out how to move them, and my arms were even easier, but controlling my fingers were currently not as easy. They required focusing on just one finger or on multiple, but using all five at once was natural and easy.

I then tried moving my neck, and with luck I was able to, I checked my skin and I could see that it was a well-toned skin color, with me already being in what appeared to be the adult state of my assumed species of human, then either I have been laying in this spot for a good amount of time, or I have it because of genetics and I've lost my memories.

I quickly walked through the forest and found a path, if there's a path here it most likely leads to civilization, but I don't know about the civilizations here. So I decided to walk by the path hidden by the trees just in case bandits roam past.

Soon after I could hear the clanging of swords, I decided that in my effort of survival, staying close enough to hear its direction is good, but going towards it is a no go. I sat there for quite a while till the clashing stopped, and for another amount of time, I could hear galloping, this meant one side died and the other left. I went towards the direction of where I heard the clanging of swords, as I arrived I saw men in robes on the ground covered in blood near the trees, and an open part were men in armor lye dead. I assumed they were bodyguards to the men in robes.

I scanned the surroundings and assumed it safe, so I checked the bodyguard's stuff first, the armor was heavy and my physical strength combined with my stamina which was great, wasn't a good match, it wound halter my movements and make my travel time longer. I noticed the weapons were already taken, so no luck with swordsmanship.

I headed over to the men in black robes, they seemed to have died from three arrows to chest each, quite impressive archery if I must say so myself. As I searched there body, I found one of them had a book strapped in a satchel around him. I quickly pulled the satchel up and over his dead arms and then undid the leather belt keeping the book to the satchel. As I opened it, I noticed it was written in strange runes, but I could understand them, fluidly even. I don't know why though, maybe this can lead me to know who I am in this world.

As I read on, I learned of a mysterious force known as magic, apparently, it was a common thing in this world for people to know and even use some minor magics, but those who could use Tier 2 and above magic were apprentice mages or self-taught people with high skill at least.

I quickly discerned that I should try and use magic, but I realized I should try speaking first to see if I can speak in the same language I think.

"ᛏᛖᛋᛏ᛫ᛟᚠ᛫ᚦᛖ᛫ᚡᛟᚲᚨᛚ᛫ᚲᛟᚱᛞᛋ" I quickly heard my voice flow faster than I thought, and in a split second, a giant boom was heard from my mouth that sounded like a beast roar, scaring off all the birds from there trees unless you were at the end of the forest.

I realized, I speak and think in these ancient runes, that's why I could read them, they were my native language! I quickly deduced that none of them spoke in this or they wouldn't be 'ancient' so I tried thinking simple, "ᛏᚱᚨᚾᛋᛚᚨᛏᛖ". As soon as I did that, I tried speaking once more, " Test of the vocal cords. " and again, all the newly perched birds were scared off, they wonder what they did to deserve this.

I noticed, no matter what, in the terms of the world, I'm still speaking in the same language, and they probably can't even speak runes so it doesn't matter, it still has the effect, so I quickly discerned, I speak so fast even normally, and that my speech is an innate spell casting machine. The world still seemed slow too, I thought it was just normal but now I understand. I'm thinking too fast, and I say my words so fast I'm at risk of casting spells and also no one understanding me, this is helpful for future notes.

I tried speaking slower this time, " Testing... my... vocal... cords. " Nothing happened this time. I got lucky with it, I wanted to try with telepathy but I quickly discerned I don't even know how to do that, and I think in the language I speak, so of course they wouldn't understand me.

Now that I've established some basic facts on myself, I noticed I haven't been wearing clothes and that these humans did, so I should aswell in case I come in contact with others. I stole the underclothes of the soldiers because they had brown cloth shirts and some brown cloth pants. With that, I grabbed one of the robes and flipped it inside out and quickly tried casting a spell, "ᚷᚱᚨᛃ᛫ᚲᛟᛚᛟᚱᚨᛏᛁᛟᚾ", the robe changed from black to grey, now that is wasn't matching to these mages, I probably wouldn't be attacked on sight for being mistakenly associated as one, I took the one mages satchel and reput the book back on and buckled it back to the satchel, threw the satchel over my shoulder, and it was time.

Time to set down the road, to a new untold journey.
