4 Ch.4 Work and weekend.

The day after that Andrew and me are going to work together.

Though something strange happened yesterday, where he had some strange energy emerging from him as he was about to be run over, nothing out of the ordinary has happened since then.

It felt as if he was about to do something and some kind of power or energy was building up.

I have some ideas of what it could have been, but I'm not too sure.

"Mr. Adam sure wakes up early"

"Really?"

"Yeah! We don't start until 8:00 and we still left at a little over 7:00, at this rate we'll be arriving early."

"I'm sorry, I'm used to waking up early."

"Not at all! I think it's admirable how responsable you are. Not only when working."

"I guess."

After arriving to the office we continued in his capacitance along the day.

Apart from the strange feeling I got from time to time when I saw him altered on certain occasions, it was a normal day.

And like that, Friday went and passed as well. Now its Saturday, one of my days off.

I normally take this time to buy groceries and walk around the city. Observing humans in their daily commutes as they live their lives.

I try to understand how the cities of today's date work, how its people think and where we are going in the future.

So, as I'm exiting my house...

"Hello, Mr. Adam!"

"Hello, Andrew."

I now have a new neighbor. One I can't really avoid socializing with.

"How are you doing?"

"Im doing great! I've been having fun since I moved here!. I'm still trying to get used to the new apartment."

So motivated.

"That's great. Keep it up."

"Thanks! I will! Is Mr. Adam going out?"

He sees me going down the stairs.

"Yeah. I'll be leaving to buy groceries."

"Well good luck then."

I lightly wave back at him.

Today it's a little cold, it's still early.

As I'm heading to the Mall, I watch the people around me...

I know.

I already know.

I know our future doesn't look too good right now. As I watch them pass by, I can see how it doesn't concern them. It's none of their concern.

There are so many really threatening situations out there, yet its still none of their concern.

It won't affect them. But i know it will affect... Me...

Eventually...

Still...

I don't know.

I still don't know.

I don't know what I have to do. What I can do. What can i do? Even with all this time... I don't know what to do.

I arrive at the mall.

I start buying some esencial things, for the week only. I don't have much to buy.

Some food ingredients, higiene items, and some other miscellaneous items.

After that I continue my walk through the city.

"Can i have some spare change?"

I hear a voice at a turn. Though it wasn't addressed to me.

"Please, anything is appreciated."

It's a Man, sitting on a cardboard box that's been flattened, holding a can in one hand and a sign on the other.

"Any help is appreciated."

...

This is a human being, just like any other. Yet the people passing by seem to ignore his presence, looking the other way.

How?

Is there anything I can do to change the way things are?

It seems like they forget how everyone is alive and deserves much more. They have every right to live happy lives, and everyone also deserves a chance.

At that moment, I see the sign the man is holding.

"Guide the world, one person at the time."

...

That's right.

I have done it before. And I could still be doing it.

I have just been too scared of loosing everyone. But, like this... I will end up changing nothing.

I go to the man, take my wallet out an grab everything I have left in there.

"This...?"

"You can have it."

"You can't mean..."

"Yes, you can take it, I'm sorry that's all I have with me."

"There's no way I can accept everything."

"Don't worry I just bought everything I'll need until next paycheck."

I gesture to the bags I'm holding.

"And your way home?"

"That will be no problem."

I can walk.

"... Well I... I really appreciate this..."

"You don't have to worry, it's the least that I can do. Actually..."

Looking closer, he is wearing light clothes.

"You can have this too."

I take off my jacket and hand it to him.

"No no no, I have already received much..."

"It's alright, I'll just go home. You will need it much more."

"Thank you, really."

"No problem."

I sit down with him and start talking about his story.

His name is Robert, it seems that he traveled to this country for a job he got accepted to. The problem lies in his management being changed without notice and there being a lot of layoffs by the new management.

Being unable to go back home...

"With this, I'll finally be able to come home."

"Wait, really?!"

I'm rather surprised, i don't think I gave him as much as a full trip's worth.

"I have been saving..."

He seems to be getting emotional.

"I had enough to go back but to come back empty handed... I couldn't go back. But i haven't been able to get a new, stable job, I've just been working here and there."

He seems really happy, as if a burden has been lifted.

"I actually felt scared to come back but, now... Thanks to you, I feel i can make it."

"I'm sure you definitely can."

"I don't know how I can repay you."

"Keep working hard, and never give up. Hope can never be lost."

"Thank you, really. Not just for the money."

"I should be thanking you."

I decided, I will stop running from those around me.

And I shall start with Andrew.

I have been ignoring it, but he is someone "special". And I know he'll need guidance with whatever he's dealing with.

For that, I'll have to ask some other "special" people.

And I know where to find them.

I walk around until I reach a café in a secluded place in town.

It's rather calm around this parts, the cold breeze is broken by the mellow smell of coffee. As I enter the warmly lit, calm room, I see a few people enjoying from a cup of coffee to a lunch or even some dessert.

I walk up to the barista, a broad man with an aura of neatness around him.

"What will you be having?"

He asks me as I approach the counter.

"I'll drink a stardust galaxy."

He retracts a little bit after hearing that, but he quickly recovers his composure and gives me a look of curiosity.

"Will you be having the milky way?"

"No, I would rather have an irregular galaxy."

He looks surprised.

"I didn't notice you were... You look so normal. I still can't figure out what you are."

"I get that a lot."

"Well then, don't cause any trouble."

He hands me a purple drink with a fortune cookie.

I drink the tea, a completely normal blueberry tea.

And leave for another room at the back.

A guard there opens the door and inside is just an empty room.

"Let's see what's in here."

I open the fortune cookie and in the paper inside, there's a spell.

Now im no magician nor a wizard, but almost everyone can make this kind of spell.

"Emases nepo!"

That is literally open sesame backwards in runic language!...they didn't think this one too much.

I enter the room where the "special" people are.

Another Café.
