209 The Master of Poisons

[XieDu sect house]

The dark sky was lit up with crimson fire, as if the darkness was painted with streaks of blood. Even the hazy moon shining through thin clouds seemed to hold a tint of red in it, reflecting the carnage below.

Death had overcome the once calm oasis created by Ye WeiRu. The tall white pillars of the sect house were now dirtied with dried blood, the stone steps littered with the bodies of disciples that had tried to flee from Lan Guan-Yin and Su Lang's men, to no avail. 

The gardens running around the house, used to grow herbs and to keep poisonous creatures for the harvesting of venom, were destroyed and lit up on fire. The sign had been torn off the roof, lying sideways before the main hall doors, cracks running across the red letters, 'XieDu Sect'.

Only the crackling flames could be heard in the otherwise dead silence.
