The sun was climbing down from its peak, the warm rays bouncing off the sparkling blue water, setting the river glimmering like diamonds. A strong wind came down from the mountains, sending the hems of ZhiYi's robes fluttering as he pulled his horse to a stop.

The coming winter would be merciless. ZhiYi could already feel it in the whipping wind that felt like blades against his skin. Not a ferry or a boat was in sight along the shore, but ZhiYi wasn't here to cross the river. Instead of heading straight forward, he pulled his horse to walk along the shoreline, heading towards the mountains.
