89 Aim to Kill

Wu TianLan climbed up, then fell back down as pain shot up his thigh, the throbbing heat spreading down to his toes from his ankle. His leg was injured, and every time he attempted to put weight on it, the pain stabbed him like a flaming sword, piercing him from his ankle all the way up to his knee.

Taking a shaky breath in, TianLan gritted his teeth as he pulled himself up, taking leverage from a nearby tree. Lifting the hem of his robe, he bit down on it to keep it out of the way as he raised his injured foot above the pooling fog beneath him. With a silent prayer, he pulled up his pants leg and glanced at his injury.

The thorns of the root had pierced his skin like hundreds of tiny needles. Blood oozed in small trickles from the open wounds. Some wounds didn't trickle blood, the thorns were lodged in them, being torn off the root during his struggle earlier.
