1 st Chapter: The Paxleys

Ever since my brother left, I was very bored during my free hours. I had no one to test my magic superpowers on and no one to get angry at. The days were all dull now and nothing unusual had happened this week. Until the day my father received a letter from another prestigious family; the Paxleys. They were a family of magic users and declined to use swords and guns. I find them interesting but something felt not right.

My father called me and told me about this. I was first confused to what he was about to say. He was slightly hesitant to say a word. "What is it, father?" I asked with impatience though I'd rather not show it. "Well," he began. He was very lost. I tilted my head and raised an eyebrow at him. "The Paxleys proposed a marriage to unite both families, so I suggested that you would be the one to marry on of their sons." he continued. I stared at him for a minute before realizing what he just said. My eyes widened, "Me?!"

My father nodded quietly, his face looking like he regretted his decisions. He already knew I'd be furious about it but also I'm the most intelligent and possibly the best pick in the family. Me an my father argued for five minutes about this before I got angry and went to my room. He sounded so willing with the marriage.

'If only Lancelot was here...'

Actually, that's a good idea. It's not only me that is suitable, Lancelot is also another option. But he left, which makes it hard to tell him. We even hardly knew where he went.

I sighed sitting on my bed. I stared through the four walls of my room, trying to think of other options. Guess what? There are no other options! Which means I'm going to find Lancelot all by myself. No one shall stop me from doing so.

Several days later, it's now time to meet up with the Paxleys. They were invited by my mother to dinner. For me, this was the time to show off how unwilling I am with the marriage. The dinner went on and I was completely silent the parents were the ones who kept on telling stories and having a great conversation. But for some reason, their son was silent too. I couldn't take it anymore and excused myself. I went to the garden filled with beautiful violets. The place was enchanted by the beautiful white light coming from the crescent moon.

A voice was heard from behind. It was him.

"Hey," he greeted. I turned my attention to him and gave a nervous smile. This wasn't turning out as planned. There was a moment of silence. There were faint howls of wolves but that didn't seem to affect us. Moments later, he spoke up; "Actually, it wasn't supposed to be me." that caught me by surprise, and so I asked, "Who, then?"

"It was supposed to be my elder brother. I guess he went a bit overboard with magic," he explained, "If he didn't just use blades, then he wouldn't have to leave the family."

I slowly grew curious about the Paxley family as he continued to tell me a story about his elder brother, Gusion. He was said to have left the family. It's a shame that the Paxleys did that because he told me Gusion was a skilled mage and was fast enough to defeat his foe with the use of both magic and sword.

"So, you're not willing with the marriage too?" I asked, he laughs. "Of course, not. I've always wanted to see Gusion get married but not me." I nodded. That sounds so familiar...

"Ah!" I exclaimed. He looks at me in confusion, like I was going to try something stupid. "You know, my brother would have probably be chosen to marry any of your sisters if he haven't disappeared."

"I see..." he fell silent. We decided to go back inside and make our conversation just a secret between us. As the night went by, the noble Paxley family soon returned to their home. I lied on my bed and thought of Lancelot. I suppose I need to initiate my journey tomorrow night. I shouldn't make the plan wait that long. I have packed the things I would need on my horse in an isolated stable, where no one would find them.

'Tomorrow, my brother, I shall seek you throughout the Land of Dawn.'
