6 Finding The Truth

I was on my way to my room alone when I see Ayla is walking in front of me. "Should I strike up a conversation with her?" I thought to myself.

" Hey... " I jogged toward her as I called her name. She stopped walking upon hearing my calls. Then she turns around with a cold face. "What do you want?" There's some hostility in her voice but, I choose to ignore it.

"Do you know where the old man is??"

I asked as I scratch my head. "I don't see him since we talked this morning". I stare at her cold face turn into frowns after I ask the question.

" huh?" I tilted my head a little while looking at her face. Despite her being cautious and uncomfortable around me .. she has no respect. Well... I don't see anyone show me respect since I came here. I shrug in my head.

'The original owner deserved it, maybe". I sigh.

"What old man ??" She asked while slightly frowning. When I looked at her tail that is slightly down and her ears flat somewhat back to the head... I knew that she is being cautious around me. " That grandpa of mine... I called him an old man". I replied not realizing whether she is uncomfortable or not with my answer.

"Sir Argon is on the training ground at the castle for his training duty. He will return this evening so, you can meet him at that time". She answers quickly.

" Why is he on the training ground?? " I asked curiously. "Is he a soldier?? " I was somewhat happy that this girl still answering my question despite the frowns on her face.

Ayla's face stiffens after hearing my question. 'Huh? Did I ask the wrong question?' I thought.

" Lady Violet...Sir Argon is this kingdom head knight! How come you don't know that!!?" She answered with a scowl at my ignorance.

I was shocked by her answer. Who would have thought?.... Turns out that the old man is an amazing person!!! A head knight!!!!. "I see... He is an amazing person!! I thought he just wears that armor as an accessory!! " I chuckled lightly.

Ayla looks shocked by my statement. She looks at me with wide eyes and her animal ears sprung up. " What?? Did I said something wrong?? " I was startled when she suddenly looks at me like that.

" Lady Violet...did you hit your head or something?? " Ayla looks very angry this time. "How can you mock your grandfather like that!!???"

"Huh!!??" I was taken aback as she suddenly raised her voice. "Hey! No need to get so worked up... I— How could you!!!!"

She raised her voice again. I can't help but bite my lips as she doesn't let me have the chance to defend myself.

" I bet on both my ears and my tail that you don't even know your parents' title!!!" Ayla points at me while baring her fangs. Her expression looks scary right now but, I forced myself not to make any expression.

Ayla looks at me with contempt. Her face is full wrinkled as she keeps baring her fang at me with furrowed eyebrows. But, after a few seconds, her eyes become wide like she just realized something. She closes her mouth with her palm and looks at me with fear in her eyes.

Her tail that keeps waving left and right also stops moving abruptly.

" Now that you said that..." I smile at her as I scratch my head. I realize that her body is shaking slightly.

" Is my father a baron? " When I asked that question, Ayla looks at me weirdly. I feel uncomfortable when she stares at me like that.

" Just answer me, OK!!?? " I raised my voice a little. How can a daughter don't know about his father's title? But, scratch that thought... I don't even know why I even got here. I sigh as I look outside the window.

" Your father....., his grace, is the duke of this kingdom... With your mother is the duchess including.... his second wife. " She answered with a shaky voice after a long silence.

I turn my face to looks at her. Right now, Ayla doesn't even dare to look at me in the eyes.

" I see..." I held my chin as I start to think about the new information I just got.

" Lady Violet.. may I take my leave now... ?? " She asks with a weak voice.

" Sure...! You can go.". I waved my hand to tell her that she can take her to leave.

Then she leaves hurriedly. I feel a little disappointed. I want to talk to her more... But, she seems to be uncomfortable around me.

I want to know more about this world. This place is unfamiliar to me after all. I mean.. that girl has a tail and ears and it's real!!! I sigh heavily.

Is there any place where I can look for information without raising any suspicion?

I keep walking with gloom all inside my head. At the same time, I'm trying to process the new information I just got from Ayla and the conversation with the original owner's families.

When I reach my room, for some reason... I don't feel like going in. There aren't any interesting things inside. So, I keep walking not knowing where my final destination will be.

" I need to find more information about this place". I sigh again... Just today... I have lost count of how much I've scratched my hair in frustration.

"Do this mansion even have a library!!??" I mumble. After two days of spending my time in this mansion... I knew that this place is so big. More of the reason why I think that I might have reincarnated no matter how unbelievable and ridiculous it sounds.

Why is there a beast kind like Ayla.. and this world also has nobility, It means, this world still has feudalism and monarch. Including the style of the clothes which are different but full of similarities to European fashion in the old times. It hurt me more and more when I keep thinking about it.

I keep walking until I saw a mysterious figure walking. I stop to look at the figure walking or should I say... floats away?

"A ghost? In this era?"

I followed him until he stopped in front of a door. The doors have different designs than all the doors that I've seen in this mansion. The doors size is bigger, and It has delicate flowers and animal design. The animal is the type that I've never seen before.

After a while... The ghost walked through the door without opening it. I was shocked but curious at the same time.

"Should I follow him?" I am hiding in a corner so, I don't think the ghost sees me following him.

"After a few minutes of waiting... I don't seem to see the sign of the ghost coming out. I quickly walk toward the door and stop right before I push the door.

"Alright... Here we go..." I whisper to myself to increase my courage.

"1..."

"2..."

"3!!!!!"

I took a deep breath and push the door slowly. I take a small peek first. "It's a library!!!!" I feel excited when I saw many books inside. Slowly... I walk inside and almost gasp in amazement when I saw the inside.

" Wow!! This place is amazing!!" From the door, I thought this room would be small, but I was wrong. The library is very big! All the shelves are bigger than me and it's full of books!!!" There's not even a gap between the books on each shelf. I keep walking while looking around the library.

" This is not the language that I speak..." I frown when I look at some of the books on the shelves. The word used in every book is not the words I'm familiar with. I choose a book randomly and pull it out of the shelves.

I tried to read the words or at least trying to understand it.. but, nothing come to mind. I tried to compare it with a book on different shelves and found out, all the books use the same language.

" That's weird... I can speak with other people just fine... And they all used the same language in my former world...but". I close the books and sigh.

"Why are the words different?" I put the book back in its former place. And walk further into the library.

" Where is that ghost I wonder?" I mumble as I glance at my left and right. Then, I saw a stair not far from me in the corner of the library. The stair is placed in the innermost of the library. "The library has another floor!?" Again, I was amazed by how great this library is.

" I quickly climb the stairs and when I reached the second floor, I can't help but freeze in one place. In front of me, is the ghost I saw before.

I grab the railing tightly when the ghost looks at me. But, the ghost didn't say anything. He just stares at me. I feel my knees are getting weaker, so, my hand is tightening on the railing subconsciously. The ghost doesn't look scary, everything looks like a human, except his face, is pale like he is wearing lots of powder on his body. Also, from his waist to his legs, it's all transparent.

I bite my lips unconsciously. The ghost doesn't say anything. I muster up a lot of courage to ask him the first question.

"Are you a ghost?" I wonder if the question sounds stupid? I look at the ghost face again. There's no change in his expression.

I was about to change my question when I heard a reply.

"No..." The reply was slow, but not scary. The voice doesn't sound like what most horror stories are always done. The voice sounds... Normal.

I stare at him again. He is wearing a noble military uniform. There's a sword on his side but, it's also transparent just like his lower body. He has long white hair that reaches his neck but is tied into a ponytail. His eyes are grey, pale is more like it. His eyes look lifeless. He is wearing gloves and boots. Overall, he looks fashionable and handsome.

"What are you if not a ghost?" I asked again. Still a little scared so, I am ready to run if anything weird starts to happen.

The pale eyes look at me in the eyes again. I feel a shiver in my spine when being stares like that. The air around me feels really cold but, I am still sweating.

" Memory.." he replied.

"What..??" I look at the man confusedly.

"Follow me.." After that, the ghost floats towards a direction. I hesitate whether I want to follow him or not. After a few seconds of contemplating, curiosity overcome my fear, so I decide to walk in the same direction as the ghost.

I follow the ghost until we reach the innermost part of the library where a shelve, different from the others is placed. Unlike the other shelves, this shelve is smaller in size, but the design is more delicate.

I stare at the ghost but, this time the ghost doesn't look at me, instead, he is pointing at a book inside the shelve.

" Open the books," he tells me.

" Huh!!?" I was startled when he tells to open the book. I want to refuse, but the ghost doesn't look like the type to discuss things peacefully. I tried to think of the pros and cons of opening the book until a few minutes.

I decided to take out the book and open it. " What's worse that can happen?" I ask myself. When I open the book, I close my eyes quickly, to brace anything that will come to me.

After what feels like 2 minutes, nothing seems to happen. I open one of my eyes, and exactly like I thought, nothing happens. I let out a sigh of relief.

"Ugh... That scares me. Without wasting any more time, I tried to read the first words of the book, only to find that I understand nothing.

" I can't read it..." I frown as I look up only to see the man is staring at me. "Ugh... That shocked me..." I was about to turn the page when I feel cold in every part of my body.

" Huh!!??" When I look up again.. suddenly, the ghost flies towards me!!?

"Gah!!!!" I can't help but gasp when the transparent body flies through me. I feel like passing out because my body suddenly feels weak. The books fall from my hand and my knees become very weak. " What... happen..?" I speak weakly as I saw the ghost flying at me again.

It's the last thing I saw before losing my consciousness.
