The carriage drove past the tall, majestic palace gates where stood a group of imperial guards on both sides, saluting respectfully.
Avalyn could only hear the uniform sounds of the guards' boots stomping on the ground while saluting and the solemn welcoming voice of the captain outside. Avalyn nearly jumped out of Violette's arms in shock, yet again. She couldn't help but lament in her heart how she had almost been shocked to death so many times today that her heart felt numb.
Feeling the previously quiet and obediently sleeping baby flinch so suddenly, Violette stopped her conversation with the Queen in the middle and lowered her head to look at the baby, worried.
"Oh my. She was sleeping so peacefully just now. Did she have a bad dream?" Violette said in a voice filled with concern for her baby.
Arthur frowned, "Maybe she was startled awake by the noise outside. I should probably tell the guards to not be too noisy from now on."

Avalyn listened to their conversation with a stupefied face. What are they looking so serious for...?
Realising her blunder, Avalyn quickly calmed herself and closed her eyes again, pretending to be dead as she thought about the voice she heard before again and wondered if it was just her imagination. But without giving her any time to convince herself about her conjecture, the childish voice spoke again as if noticing her confusion.

Avalyn called out to him a few more times but gave up after not getting any response. She pouted sadly for getting shunned by the arrogant dragon then finally decided to check the situation around her.
When she opened her eyes, she was dazzled by the sight in front of her. They were currently walking down a lavishly decorated corridor with dazzling gold and precious jewels embedded on the snow-white walls.
There were many big photo frames of gorgeously dressed dignified men and women hung on the walls. The precious luminous magic stones were casually lined up on the long corridor, lighting up the whole place as if it was daytime even though it had already turned dark outside. The floor was soread with red carpets with golden intricate embroideries while the floor was made of smooth black marbles making a great contrast to the snow-white walls which set off a sense of beauty and luxury.
Everywhere she looked, her eyes could only see illusion of large amount of money raining down on her. She was nearly blinded by the show of extravagance which made her feel a bit dizzy.
So this is the palace! It is really deserving of its fame ah!, she thought with praise in her heart.
Everyone around her chuckled when they saw her looking around curiously with big, round shining eyes. She really looked too adorable.
"Lyn looks so happy. She seems to like it here very much." said Violette.
Isabella chuckled, "Then you must bring her here more often."
"Of course."
"....But what if she suddenly wanted to live here instead of going back home?" Johann suddenly spoke in a low voice which made everyone look at him blankly. Then they burst out in laughter at his serious face, amused by his unnecessary worry.
"Haha, Johann, Lyn isn't even a day old yet you are already worrying about her leaving you? How come I never knew that you were such a worry wart when it came to your daughter?" Arthur teased his best friend with a chuckle.
Johann felt a bit embarrassed but still kept his poker face, "Well, I'm just stating my thoughts. Nothing else."
Violette smiled in amusement at her husband's embarrassed look and gave him a few encouraging pats on his back. Avalyn also looked at him with humour-filled eyes.
