1 The Curse

I closed the book. When I bought this novel, I expected an annoying female character. But I did not expect this character to be this annoying. She had only appeared three times, but I had killed her in my head in different ways. She was so annoying that just killing her in my head would not be enough.

I breathed heavily and shouted, "Yanyu! I'm going to kill you!"

As a result, my mother came to my room to scold me. I kept quiet and decided to find other ways to express my anger. I grabbed my sketchpad and drew Yanyu according to how she was described. I was not good at drawing, but I was sure it was Yanyu because of her clothes. She was the only one in the story who wore a dress with flower patterns. When I had finished drawing her 23 times, I tore each sheet of paper.

"Those who try to break up my one true pair will never have their happily ever after," I said.

When I had finished releasing my anger, I took a shower to prepare to go to sleep. I had to wake up early because Aarin's novel would be released tomorrow. She had not released in a long time, so there would surely be many people in the bookstore.

"Liqin, don't worry. I will kill that Yanyu in more ways tomorrow. Guowei is yours," I said while turning off the lights.

I lied down on my bed and imagined about the new novel. I used to hate reading. Before, I had to force myself to read novels just for my analysis. When I first read a BL story, that was when I realized that it was not that I hated reading. I just had not found my type of book. Ever since then, I would spend most of my time reading. Only then did I understand my classmates who carried books with them everyday.

It was in the middle of the night when I heard knocks. Angry, I stood up and opened the door. There stood an old man. His hair was in a top knot, and he was wearing traditional red clothes. He was holding a cane on his left hand and a scroll on his right. He had a crescent moon tattoo on his forehead.

I closed the door. I guessed it was just a dream. When I turned around, he was there. That was when I was sure it really was a dream. I walked past him and lied down on my bed.

"I don't have time for dreams. I have to wake up early tomorrow. Just do your thing and then leave," I said.

"Do not worry," he said. "This is not a dream."

I rolled my eyes at him. "Sure."

"Yanyu, Lihua, Dandan, Meifeng, Jiayi, Jinjing. Do you know these people?"

"They are the ones who tried to break up my OTPs. But you only mentioned a few. Shuxin, Meili, Yuzhang, Xiaofan, Yanmei, Xiulian. But I guess it's impossible to mention all of them."

"Do you know them?" he asked again.

"Of course."

"Do you really know them? What is Yanyu's favorite food? What is Lihua's dream? What is Meili's greatest fear?"

"I don't know about those things, but I know them."

"Well, do you not want to know those things?"

"I'm more interested in Aarin's new book. I don't care about them."

"Well, you have no choice but to get to know them. Tomorrow, you will be Yanyu."

And the old man just disappeared. He said that I will be Yanyu. I could not help but scoff at the idea. I was not the type of person who would try to break up couples.

Well, it was a nice experience. I had only heard about lucid dreaming until then. I got to experience it myself. And I really thought it was just lucid dreaming until I woke up wearing Yanyu's flower-patterned dress.
