Chapter 4

The door opened and a knight in shining armor entered.

The knight, who seemed to be around 38 years old, looked at me with surprise.

He looked back and said, "Young master is awake."

He looked at me again and yelled, "Young master please lie down!"

I stared at him in confusion.

For some reason he seemed familiar to me.

Behind him, another person joined the conversation.

"Sir Arthur, I would appreciate it if you could let me through."

"Oh, excuse me." The knight said and made way for the person behind the door.

A middle-aged man entered the room.

His sparse gray hair was slicked back, he wore round glasses that made him look funny, and he wore a dark green suit.

"Young sir, we are glad you are active, but please lie down. Your body is weak since you have been unconscious for around 5 days and 6 nights."

"5 days and 6 nights…?" I said while lying on the bed.

"Yes, right after Sir Arthur managed to find you inside the duke's private workshop after hearing your screams, but when he entered, you ended up passing out due to great fatigue and the severity of your injuries." The middle-aged man spoke.

"I was very scared. You had been missing for several hours, out of nowhere I heard a scream and when I found you, you were covered in a lot of blood." Arthur explained.

It seems that he was the knight I saw at that time, now that he is not wearing the helmet he is not as imposing as I thought.

The middle-aged adult came over to me and sat on the chair which was next to my bed.

"With the help of us 'the best clerics in the territory' we have completely healed his wounds, but he should still rest. The physical wounds are healed, but we don't know about other types of wounds." The middle-aged man said as he looked at me trying to find something.

"Young master, what I will say next will be somewhat difficult to accept, but unfortunately it is the truth." Arthur spoke with a serious expression. "Duke Viktor is missing; if you know anything about it it would be of great help."

I was silent with my eyes closed for a moment as I tried to remember something about my previous experience, but my memories were cloudy.

I can only vaguely remember that I, Park Min Ho, who must have already died, was in a somewhat cozy place until a strange voice spoke to me about something that I cannot remember and now I am here, Alexander being a villain within a web novel.

"[Notification sound]"

My eyes snapped open; I heard a noise I was familiar with.

It was the sound of notifications from my smartphone, but it was impossible for my smartphone to be in this world.

I heard a woman's voice in my head saying, "[New rookie quest unlocked, avoid raising any suspicion of the church member. Rewards: System Unlock. In case of failing the mission; DEATH.]"

"Was this for real?" I thought to myself.

I couldn't risk finding out if it was true that I would die if I failed the 'mission'.

He also didn't know what exactly the mission was about.

"Avoid raising any suspicion of the church member."

It was obvious that the church member he was talking about is the middle-aged man next to me, but what suspicion was the voice talking about?

"Sorry, I don't remember anything. My mind is a bit fuzzy right now." I answered the question and looked askance at the cleric.

Arthur looked disappointed but still continued to inform me of the current situation.

He told me that currently the mansion was in a really difficult situation due to the duke's disappearance.

It all started in the afternoon when they couldn't find me, the last time someone had seen me was in the kitchen while I was taking a few pieces of bread.

Some time later, since I hadn't shown up for my daily swordsmanship training, they sent some servants to call me, but they couldn't find me.

It was then decided to send out groups of knights to search for me in and around the mansion, but there was still no trace of me.

The mansion was soon put on alert, no one was able to contact the duke either.

Even all entrances and exits in the territory were closed in case it was a kidnapping.

It was until a strong and chaotic magical wave was registered inside the mansion and the cavalry elites quickly headed to the epicenter of the phenomenon.

It was at this time that Sir Arthur found me in the duke's private workshop.

Splatters and endless puddles of blood were scattered throughout the room. The scene turned out to be traumatizing for the less experienced knights.

After checking that I was still alive, I was immediately taken for medical attention.

The entire territory of the duchy was searched but no trace of the duke was found.

The royal family quickly learned of the situation and sent their private army to investigate the matter.

The case is currently being investigated.

"The Duchess is not in good health, she has not left her room since this has been going on." Arthur said distressed.

"Hey, you've already told him enough information, remember that even though he's a descendant of Duke Viktor, he's still a child" Exclaimed the cleric, instigating Arthur to stop talking.

At that moment time seemed to stop and the voice inside my head returned.

"[Mission complete. Quest Reward: System Unlock…Activating System…]"

Suddenly I was transported to an unknown place, it seemed to be a different dimension. It was dark, but it didn't feel the same as when I died.

A blue interface appeared in front of my eyes.

"[System failure... host soul damaged, attempting to repair... ERROR, damage severe, significant soul parts missing... patching soul with another soul hosted in system.]"

"[Searching for compatible soul… found compatible soul… obtained soul: Alexander Verdanova… merging souls, 100% compatibility]"

What is all this? And why should it be the soul of that wretch?!

"[Installing soul…]"

A strong sensation of heat invaded my body. I felt like my organs were burning and my meat was cooking.

"[Installation completed, some personality traits of the host will be affected.]"

After hearing that, I came back to reality.

A sharp pain inside my chest invaded me.

"[Sound]" I coughed violently.

I looked at my hand and a jet-colored substance covered my palm, I surreptitiously hid my hand under my sheets to prevent the cleric from noticing.

"I think it's time we put young master to rest." said the cleric.

"Then we will retire, call me or the servants if you need anything." Express the knight Arthur.

They both left the room.

I waited a moment to make sure they wouldn't come back, when I confirmed that they wouldn't, I put my hand out again.

The black substance had a tar-like consistency.

I tried to take it off with a sheet, but to no avail.

"I have to get rid of this substance, even for me it is suspicious."

I wrapped my hand in the same sheet and slowly opened the door to the room.

Maids were waiting outside, I can't go out.

"What should I do?"

I slowly closed the door again.

I looked around and saw the window.

"I'm crazy…"

I opened the window.

I couldn't go down, I was on the second floor of the mansion.

I looked to the right and but there was only one closed window.

I looked to the left and luckily for me, this one was open.

I put one foot in the frame of the sale, and then the other.

I clung with all my strength to the wall and began to slide slowly on a thin surface that protruded slightly from the wall.

"I am a goat, I am a goat." I said to myself.

"I'm almost there." I extended my left arm and grabbed onto the window frame.

When I was nowhere near being able to get in through the window...

"Because you are a goat?" a girl said as she peeked out the window.

"Ahhh~" I yelled.

I was startled by his unexpected intervention, I lost my balance and when I should have fallen.

She grabbed me and pulled me inside the room.
