At one place in the city, city guards and five students of the Arcane Academy were looking at horrendous things done to some of the missing people right in front of them.
They were bound in chains inside metal cages that inhibited any kind of movement for them, while some had lifeless gazes like they had given up on life itself.
Everyone who had just arrived had hardened expressions while clutching their weapons, but it didn't last long as some cultivators attacked them out of nowhere.
Their rage was directed at the ones who attacked them, while some fled, using the attackers as mere bait who were in no way different than the caged ones.
All of them were cultivators and had seen blood, gore, dead bodies, and whatnot, but it was natural for most people to feel repulsion when they saw their own species in such bad conditions.
