Arc 1, Chapter 1: The Arrogant Young Master and The Possessive CEO

A week passed since the day Xi Xie integrated his existence in this world's setting.

He is a first-time transmigrator, and this is his first mission world. He remembered the first meeting with the so-called 'system' when it first came to him, remembered their deal, but the rest is as clean as a blank sheet. Apparently, clearing his original world's memories was his own proposition. Whatever the reason behind that, it was no longer his concern. What he looks forward to is the end-goal. He needs to complete three mission worlds in order to live again. Be it rebirth or reincarnation, as long as he is in control of his life, he wants it.

Xi Xie was once a cannon fodder villain who failed to get the love of the male lead and died after a bunch of twist and turns in the story plot. Typical of every cannon fodder to promote the protagonists' love story and get their retribution. It must have been a miserable experience for him to wish forgetting his past. Well, no one would like to be a suffering marionette controlled by the world's plot. He is now bound to the Villain Happiness System, and they need to ensure every world's cannon fodder villain will live a happy and fulfilling life. A full happiness index is what they need.

"White Bug, it's time."

Not long after, a fist-sized white caterpillar appeared and lazily floated towards him. And yes. White Bug is his system.

"Why do I have to do it?" The system fell softly on the 100-dollar cat cushion they ordered online just beside Xi Xie on the bed. It was too comfy that he became a caterpillar pancake in just a few minutes.

Ideally, they should be living in a symbiotic relationship. Yet both are as lazy as a sloth, and both are opposing each other when it comes to working.

"Think of upgrading into a gorgeous butterfly." Xi Xie reminded.

"Fine. Are you sure your idea is flawless?" White Bug forgot that it was Xi Xie's mission, not his. Xi Xie wants him to enter the target's dream, and manipulate it to make him dream of the original plot until after his tragic death. This way it will serve as a warning. The target will take the initiative to change his own ending and they'll only need to guide in the sidelines. The system thinks it's too good to be true.

"It depends on your execution. Sow it well and you'll reap well."

"Don't think I don't know you're pushing the responsibility on me."

"It doesn't hurt to try."

"Then why don't you do it?"

"…" Xi Xie thinks the system is getting better at pitting. "You should hurry, it is past midnight already. Just a few hours before dawn."

The upset White Bug flew out the window grumbling. He's still a low-level system, so he can't choose a more ideal host. Wait until he's a full-grown butterfly. With that in mind the system bounced from one person's dream to another all the way to the cannon fodder villain's home. That night, a number of people woke up abruptly in the middle of the night one after another coincidentally having the same dream. In that dream, something seems to be falling from the sky. Up above they can only see a fluffy white ball, coupled with the hindering white fog surrounding their subconscious state. Until the fat ball landed forcefully in their stomach and bounced off did they notice it was a fat worm using them as a springboard.

Mr. and Mrs. Philip woke up one after another, gasping. Mrs. Philip saw her husband lying in a daze and suddenly remembered her absurd dream just now.

"Are you okay, hon?"

"I… I had a strange dream." He murmured.

"I don't think anything's stranger than a fat worm somersaulting." She chuckled.

Mr. Philip's eyes brightened, "I did dream of that." Mrs. Philip was a little surprised about the coincidence. "Do you think it's a sign that we'll be having another kid?" He asked hopefully.

"I don't think the Heavens would drop a worm in celebration." Or maybe they dropped the worm as a warning.

"I don't care! Whether it's a fat worm or a monkey, let's have another kid." Mr. Philip playfully embraced his wife and decided the dream was a disguised prophecy.

On that same roof, White Bug finally managed to reach the target's room. He crawled lazily on the carpeted floor and up the towering bed. He stopped for a while, appreciating the soft mattress, before climbing on the pillows. He gathered his breath and his body glowed dimly. Blowing softly, silver mist surrounded the sleeping young man on the wide bed. The woven dream quietly enclosed him in a lulling net and he fell into a deep sleep, dreaming of the life he was bound to have in the original trajectory.

This young man is their mission's target. He is Killian Philip, a cannon fodder villain with the same fate like Xi Xie in his original world. He is a filial child, with loving parents, lively and trustworthy friends, and one of the best family background. His only downfall was his arrogance, yet behind that façade he is a soft-hearted man. It's a pity he fell in love with the wrong girl, used the wrong approach, and he ended up paying for it with his own life.

Killian grew up with the confidence of a young master and vices of a gangster. He performs average at school, forms groups to bully others and races cars and motorbikes with his friends. He is a patron at bars, knows how to drink and smoke. The delicate heart of the young man didn't know how to move the girl he met in college, and the arrogance made him get her attention in the wrong way. He bullied her in front of others and helps her behind her back. Unfortunately, everything's wrong right from the start. Lissa Gray is the female lead and will naturally end up with the male lead, Alexi Leonardo. If Killian is a boy, Alexi is a man. He is accomplished, renowned, and the heir to the largest conglomerate in the country. Alexi suppressed Killian a few times when he learned from Lissa that the young master bullies her, but Killian stayed despite the growing ambiguity between the two. Until Lissa provoked the villain boss and Alexi's career rival. In an attempt to save her, Killian almost lost his life. And in a landslide during a school activity in the mountains, Killian finally gave up his life to save the female led once again. Nobody learned of the softest heart hidden behind the tough exterior of the young man.

White Bug sobbed quietly while transmitting the dream and prepared to depart. He scowled in disgust when he saw Killian's parents playing hide-and-seek in the bed and heroically jumped to a different return path. The fat caterpillar hummed as he hopped from dream to dream, dreaming of the lazy days to come. Since he's done a good job, he deserves a break! He'll give himself one pronto.

Of course not.

The poor system completely forgot to disconnect from the young man's dream and dragged the connection all the way back. When the fat worm caught a glimpse of the shining male protagonist's aura, he stopped for a while and chewed a little amount of golden energy as he gave himself a holiday, leaving only when he was full.

That same eventful night, Alexi had two strange dreams. First, a fluffy caterpillar suddenly fell from the sky, stayed on his stomach and chewed endlessly. When it left, a very detailed dream played right in front of him. It seemed to be the life a young man from birth to adulthood. He could only watch as a bystander. Most of the actors are familiar to him, and he even saw himself doing irrational decisions he was sure he would never do right at that moment. He saw himself being a villain in somebody's life. More importantly, he saw himself being used and manipulated, inflicting indelible harm to somebody whose heart was as pure as a child. He saw the persons controlling behind every tragedy. And then that man died.

Alexi opened his eyes and the tears started falling, yet his expression remained blank.

"Killian…"
