6 A Letter.

My heart was thumping violently against my chest, and my head felt dizzy. I lightly touched my forehead, thinking about a moment ago when I was in duke Issen's office.

I still felt hot-and cold, a feverish shiver coursing through my skin. Cold sweat still drenched my back.

I didn't know how I made it, my mind was blank. The conversation hazy and unclear, I only remember the fear and panic.

The uncomfortable steps of heels hitting the marble ground made me unfocused, I wanted to go to my room quick. I need rest for know, all my power felt drained-dry, not a single drop left.

I pushed the room door open and lay down on the cloud-like bed, sheets so silky it felt weird. The blankets and pillows too soft. I couldn't get used to all this at all, nor comprehend my situation.

I still haven't completely accepted the fact I transmigrated into this body. Lost in this unfamiliar world, trapped between walls of decisions and facades too hard to break. This wasn't a mere game anymore, this is now reality. One that I do not have the courage to face.

How am I supposed to survive? In this game filled with many unwoven traps, eyes lurking each corner. I was the weakling ready to be gobbled by the prey.

In a world filled with power and money, each individual too used with their lives of many facades and masks, I was nothing.

The prey eat the weak, each must be stronger than one another. Don't trust anyone in a world of power and money lust. Money and gold could get you anything you wanted here.

Clouds outside the enormous window pane looked cold and gloomy. Each drop of rain hitting the window seal became heavier and violent each minute.

The sky began to darken as night began to fall. The rain didn't stop at all, it became even heavier each hour.

I lay on my bed, too tired to move a finger. The anxiety and panic began slowly fading away as I was with my consciousness.

I soon fell fast asleep, still fearing for what shall happen next.

A knock rapped on the big doors, making me sit on the bed hurriedly.

"come in." I say, groaning tiredly, only for a maid to walk in with a letter gripped in her small hands. Her heels that usually clacked muted within the soft carpet floor.

"Lady Evan, I have a letter forwarding towards you by Lady Monica." The maid said, giving me a slight bow. Her eyes looked unfocused and emotionless, the letter shoved into my face. Goosebumps spread on my skin.

"Yes... Thank you." I say, grabbing the letter from her hands as I rubbed my eyes. A red candle seal keeping the letter tightly together.

"This parcel also came with the letter, Lady Evan." The maid gave to me a small box wrapped in velvety wrapping.

"What's this?" I ask curiously, flipping the parcel front and back.

"I'm sorry, I'm not allowed to open it." The maid shook her head.

I nodded my head understandingly to her words.

"Then, I shall get going if you do not need anything anymore." The maid continued, walking away back to the door. Eyes still cold and unfazed.

I shook my head lightly, "what's wrong with her?" I question.

I look at the letter in my hands, fumbling it around. The red seal had the stamp of a noble house I did not recognize.

Wait, who's Monica? A sudden realization made my eyes widen.

The name did not sound familiar, nor did it ring any bells. All memories of Vella I had already seen and not once have I heard about someone named Monica, not even in the game.

I felt confused and worried. What's happening? The future couldn't be changing, I haven't done anything too drastic yet.

I looked at the letter, staring at the seal closely. It doesn't look familiar at all, maybe it's from a neighboring country. Let's try staying positive... for now.

I opened the letter, cursive writing filling the paper.

"Dear, Lady Vella de Evan,

Greetings, young lady. My name is Monica Louvre, I'm... Let us say I'm someone you will know in the future.

Oh, how much I want to meet as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, that's quite impossible for now. I would be joyed for when I can finally meet you.

Did the parcel come? I hope you will like my gift, it's quite a rare one. It's very hard to obtain.

I don't have very much to say Lady Evan, I can only send my greetings for now. We shall meet soon, my lady.

From, Monica Louvre."

I finished reading the letter, feeling bizarre and puzzled. What was this all supposed to mean?

I grabbed the parcel that was put beside me, the paper felt smooth against my skin. I opened the red string that held the wrapping together.

A red velvet box was revealed, looking expensive and posh. I opened the clip, only to find a dazzling ruby necklace resting inside. Well, it looked like a ruby, I don't really know any other ores with the colour red.

"wow..." I mutter unconsciously. It was beautiful alright. I carefully took out the box and admired it.

The small ruby cut perfectly into perfection was caged with a dotted crystal outline. I carefully put the necklace that fitted perfectly against my neck, resting on my lower collarbone.

I grabbed the letter again, wanting to continue the last sentence I didn't get to read.

The letter only had a footnote left, I read it quickly, skimming with my eyes. Only to feel a little shocked and surprised, fear and panic suddenly pumping my heart.

"p.s Lady Evan, I'm sure you know this isn't a game anymore. I hope you know what I'm talking about, stay safe,

You're controlling a person's life now. Beware of the future."

Red moonlight barely shone in the pitch black sky. The light felt muted and dull.

A raven haired woman was sitting by the edge of a cliff, small broken pebbles crumbled down as she swayed her legs in the open fall.

A lit cig fitted against her two fingers, and a puff of smoke escaped from her lips.

"What are you doing here, Monica?" A deep voice suddenly appeared behind her, annoyance accompanied with it.

"Well, can't I be at home in the underworld, darling? I'm an angel after all." The red lipped woman replied with a charming smile.

"More like the angel of hell and death." The tall man snorted, sitting next to her on the edge.

"Don't remind me of that damned title. I wanted to be in heaven much more instead of hell." Monica sighed, killing the fire out from the edge of the cig.

The man stayed silent, staring quietly at the dark sky.

"What are you going to do now, Monica? Two lives have been messed up by the newbie reaper." The man said, not looking once at Monica.

Monica sighed heavily, a kick suddenly sounded. "Make sure to give him a heavy punishment, he made things even harder to handle."

The man chuckled, "Of course I will, how troublesome things have become for you."

"Go jump into tartarus, Asher."

"But I already did."

"Whatever."

Monica clicked her tongue, "I guess I have to interfere even more now."

"And how did that go?" Asher asked, looking at Monica curiously.

"I gave one of them a blood moon necklace." Monica said nonchalantly.

"wait, what?"

"That necklace. The one I almost died for." Monica said, before jumping off the cliff, disappearing into black fog. Dissipating into the dark sky.
