49 Chapter Forty-Nine

Meng's pupils shook watching Feng Qi's caring actions. The crease between his dark eyebrows, the purse of his lips... He is worried?

Meng watched him wrap up her hand without knowing what she should do.

Staring at him at this moment she couldn't see any ill intent from his eyes nor any greed. But if he wasn't motivated by any of those reasons then why was he doing this?

Only idiots would think that there were free meals in this world. She helped Feng Qi because he is of use to her, maybe he was the same. Searchingly, Meng continues to stare at Feng Qi in frustration.

"What do you want from me? Everyone wants something, therefore what do you expect to get out of doing this?" Unable to stop herself she asked to questions weighing on her heart.

He looked up at her in confusion. Seeing the wariness and distrust in her eyes, a flash of killing-intent appeared. Who made his little devil like this? "I want you to stay healthy and care about your own self more."

The statement was simple, however the honesty and care behind it was anything but simple. Meng couldn't understand.

She closed her eyes and an image jumped into her head. It was her as a child in another world crying out.

She was in a dark room chained down like a animal unable to escape. A light appeared and the figure of a woman took form within it. The face of the woman was unknown, but the cruel smile was all too familiar to her.

"You see child, no daughter of mine can be this weak." A rough hand grabbed her face forcing her to look up. "Emotions are weakness, until you get rid of them you are useless to me."

A flash of something went through the air causing the small girl to cry out. It was a whip.

The woman looked at Meng in disgust seeing the tears falling down the girl's face. Her choked sobs echoed throughout the room. Unable to bear looking at such a pathetic scene the woman stared to leave the room.

"Please mother don't leave me!" The child begged to be let out of the room.

"You are the heir to the Yin throne, what I am doing is to insure the future of our family. If someone weak like you runs the business then it will crumble. Trust no one, care for no one not even me. Only Yin corporations matters."

The woman's voice became higher and higher pitched as she spoke as if imaging Meng becoming the perfect heir.

[Bam!]

The door of the room closed leaving the girl alone with her own demons.

...

"Ha...hahaha!" Starting of slowly, a loud laugh came out of Meng's body. She ripped her arm out of Feng Qi's Hands.

That memory... it took everything for her to keep it buried. It needs to stay buried. Her entire body felt like it was self destructing inside creating an excruciating pain pulsing throughout her.

No. Meng didn't want to remember it. She never wanted to remember it again. She had long left that place, however it seemed to haunt her never willing to let her go.
