45 Chapter Forty-Five

Feng Qi sat alone in his room with his head in his hands. When Meng was sleeping he had stressed everyday about her waking up. Yet, now that Meng was gone, he was stressing if she will ever come back.

Had he over stepped himself when he kept her here?

His eyebrows clenched when he thought about never seeing her again. Unable to sit anymore Feng Qi stood up and paced around his room.

Noticing how tired she looked when she collapsed he thought keeping her in his room was the best option. Not only would he be able to protect her, but he could also circulate her cultivation in order to keep her healthy while she rested.

It started out that way at least. After being around the girl for so many days somehow it made him feel at peace.

Even if she was sleeping, he felt calm just hearing her breathing. Even when he read the most disturbing documents about his parent's death, he felt fine with her there.

Thinking about this, a pressure unknown to him appeared on his shoulders. The fear of losing his first best friend plagued his soul.

Stumbling toward his bed he sat down in a daze and closed his eyes. Without her around he felt useless, like a leaf floating in the wind without any meaning.

The documents that use to captivate his attention were nothing more than words on paper to him at this time. For the first time ever he felt like his room was far too empty.

"Your Highness!"

Feng Qi opened his eyes slowly to see Shadow two anxiously entering the room. He couldn't bring himself to speak, therefore he only raised an eyebrow in a questioning manner.

"This servant found out where Princess Meng's location , however-"

Forgetting his normal calm mannerisms, Feng Qi stood up with haste.

"Where is she?" He tried to make his desperate voice sound normal. Not waiting for Shadow two to finish he was already half way to the door.

"Your majesty wait! It's not quite that simple I don't think it's best to go around her right now!"

Shadow two panicked when he saw Feng Qi getting closer to the door. The reports he gathered about Princess Meng's recent activities were extremely worrisome and the fact that she was hiding outside Feng Qi's door made it even more so!

Not wasting another moment, Shadow two moved in front of Feng Qi and dropped to his knees in a bowing position.

"Your highness, I know you consider Princess Meng your friend and it pains me to tell you this... Princess Meng is outside your door at this very moment..."

Feng Qi's eye's lit up. She came for him? All along he thought he would have to do something to catch her attention again, however she returned herself.... A warm sensation crept into his heart as a his lips tilted upwards.

"With torture weapons and poison used to knock people out."

Shadow two rushed the last part. For some reason at this time his majesty's attention span seemed nonexistent.

At first, when Shadow one begged him to switch positions he thought Shadow one was overreacting about Princess Meng. She was just a child after all, if she truly tried to harm Feng Qi he could kill her in seconds. However, it wasn't until this minute, that he realized it was far more complicated than that. The control she had over his majesty had grown to a frightening amount.

This was something Shadow two couldn't explain. He was only gone for a month at most, how did it get so bad? Shadow two silently cursed Shadow one for doing a bad job in his heart.

Once Shadow two finished his statement, the room had grown deadly quiet. Shadow two clenched his fists together while he glared at the ground in anger. His majesty was undoubtedly feeling betrayed right now and maybe even heartbroken all because of that hateful girl. Even if his majesty hates him for it he must get rid of her in the future.

"Move aside."

A calm, undisturbed voice broke through his thoughts. Shadow two looked up in shock to see Feng Qi's still happy expression. Unable to form words he stared helplessly at Feng Qi as his majesty walked past him. Once they were side by side, Feng Qi put a comforting hand on Shadow two's shoulder.

"Don't worry she won't hurt me. Stay here, this Prince is interested in what she has planned." His voice sung of such unwavering faith that for a moment, Shadow two almost believed it.

However, once the wooden door closed behind Feng Qi, he returned to reality. That girl was definitely here to hurt Prince Feng, if he didn't follow them he didn't deserve to call himself a member of the Shadows.
