58 Chapter Fifty-Eight

"May I touch your head?" Meng asked innocently causing a wave of terror to wash over Su Lou. Her face had completely drained of any color.

Meng leaned in closer with questioning eyes as her hand reached out. The hand was small and seemingly harmless, however all Su Lou saw was death.

It was her head then... she was definitely going to lose her head. A waterfall of tears formed on Su Lou's face.

"No! You cannot take my head! Princess I did nothing wrong, if you want to take out your anger take it out on Rong You." Su Lou howled out in a mess of tears. Her eyes stared desperately at the door hoping that Rong You could hear them.

Meng was shocked as she saw this outburst, but before she could explain herself she felt a sting on her cheek.

The room froze over.

With a dark face, Meng's eyebrows twitched.

'Kids had tantrums right? That's all this is... Feng Qi might have a tantrum like this in the future as well. I have to learn to deal with it.'

With slow movements she stood back up and rubbed her cheek while thinking over how she should handle this.

No, she wouldn't kill her over this, but she couldn't just let it go.

The entire reason Meng wanted to touch Su Lou's head was to see if maybe there was some damage done to it. With the soul bond, a touch would let her see any injuries inside and out allowing her to confirm a hypothesis.

Overall, Meng had reached the conclusion that a brain injury was messing with Su Lou's personality.

During her time in 'no more causing trouble' lock up she had time to think about a lot of things. One of those things included why Su Lou acted so arrogantly all the time.

Even though it was a common trait among royals or strong cultivators, it was weird for a maid to do so when they've spent their entire life serving others. Unfortunately, it seemed her question would remain unanswered for the time being. Now, for punishment.

Meng grabbed Su Lou, who was in a state of shock after hitting Meng, around the neck, and brought her face to face. "I need you to listen to my next words clearly because it will not be repeated, do you understand?"

The deadly serious voice entered Su Lou's thoughts of dying. Unable to speak from fear, Su Lou nodded her head to Meng.

"Good, it's about time I educated you on the soul deal. If I really wanted to kill you, no matter who protected you, you will die. I have a direct link to your soul and I can crush it at any given time. Distance, time, none of it will stop your soul from being crushed. Therefore, the next time you even think about harming me, I want you to remember this." With that, Meng released Su Lou's neck and stepped back. The temperature of the room finally returned to normal.

"Get up. Let's go see Rong You." A nonchalant Meng turned away from Su Lou and opened the door to the room.

If Su Lou didn't appreciate her small act of kindness when she tried to examine her brain, why should she care?

In the end it was all for the effort of experimenting anyway, she would have plenty of other times to get a better understanding of the soul slave bond.
