2 Chapter 1

Bullets flew past me as I charged at the armed man. He had recently robbed a bank a few blocks away. The guy was in his mid twenties. He managed to escape to an alley.

"Give up the fight dude!", I urged.

"We were fine without you ruining our robberies!!", the guy explained.

"Oh you just mad you were caught bub!", I said as I threw a punch at him.

He was knocked to the ground. At that moment, the New York City Police Department(NYPD) arrived. Two officers left their car and had their guns drawn at me and the robber.

"DON'T MOVE!!", yelled the officers.

One of the officers had blonde haur and blue eyes. The other had black hair and brown eyes. I put my hands up in the air.

"I am doing you guys a favor! I just did your job for you! Why are you trying to arrest me?", I asked.

"You are wanted for disrupting the public! You are a threat to society!", yelled the blonde.

I began running away. The cops started shooting. I dodged the bullets and made my way down the alley. I saw a railing that lead to the roof. I jumped up and grabbed it. Lucky for me, I knew acrobatics. I easily jumped made my way to the roof. Once on top, I began jumping roof top to roof top. This was very dangerous considering I could fall and die. Luckily I was on top of the roof of my work. I changed my clothes. The worst part about being a vigilante was always making it to places on time. And if I was late, I had to come up with excuses. I made my way off the roof and into the store. It was four fifty nine in the evening.

"You were almost late", said Margret, the shift lead for the night.

"Sorry. I was having trouble with my car, so I had to take a cab."

I clocked in and headed to the driver computer. There were no orders on the screen. It was only Tuesday, the slowest night of the week.

"Can you clean the bathroom?", Margret asked me.

"Sure", I said.

Margret was twenty-one. She was one of those girls who enjoyed reading. Mainly anime. But she was a good worker who loved working. I found her attractive. I grabbed a pair of gloves and the sanitizer. I entered the bathroom. The smell made my stomach hurt. It smelled like sewage water. I sprayed everything down and wiped. After about five minutes, the bathroom looked clean. I took the air freshener and sprayed. Strawberry scent filled the air. Margret let out a scream. I raced from the bathroom. She was looking up at the TV. There was a news report on the Vigilante.

"Who could that guy be?", she asked.

"Not sure", I replied.

"Whoever he is, he is doing a damn good job. I have always wanted to be a hero. But that is a dangerous job. What if I die or something?"

"That would be a loss for everyone."

She nodded her head.

"What would you do if you were a hero?", she asked.

My heart began beating rapidly.

"I, uh, would do the same thing that Vigilante is doing. You know, take out the bad guys and fight for the innocent. Be a voice for them."

"You seem nervous. Are you okay?"

"I'm fine."

The phone rung. Margret answered it. I went to the dish room. There were no dishes to be washed. Everything was cleaned.

"ORDER UP!", Margret yelled.

A customer had ordered two large pepperoni pizzas to be delivered. I made the pizzas and stuck them in the oven.

"You sure you can handle these pizzas? You know, since it is rush hour?", Margret asked.

"Yes ma'am", I said.

She blushed as she walked away. I put the pizzas in a red pizza holder and went outside. I pulled out of the delivery car and drove off. While driving, I turned on the radio. The five o' clock news was on. They were talking about The Vigilante. The news anchors were throwing shade at me for stoping a robbery. That didn't make any sense. I didn't do anything wrong. There was a loud buzzing on the radio. I turned it off.

"So much for trying to listen to the news", I mumbled.

I pulled up to the house of the orderer. It was a decent sized house. It had two stories. I got out of the car and walked towards the door. I rung the doorbell. No one answered. I rung it again. Still no reply. I then waited. Five minutes later, a man opened the door. He was about thirty. He was built and seemed to be in a bad mood.

"Two pepperoni pizzas", I said.

"Thanks!", he said as he grabbed the pizzas and handed me the money.

The door was slammed on me. Something didn't seem right. I noticed a red beam coming from the next floor. I looked around for a place to climb. I found a ladder that led to the roof. Once on top, I snuck over to the window. I looked inside. The guy had some sort of ray machine. He was strapping himself inside it. He was screaming in pain. His eyes had turned red. For a quick second, he had saw me. I jumped from the roof. Like a cat, I landed on my feet. I got in the car and drove away. As I was driving, a red beam flew past me. A man in a red suit with red eyes was in front of me. I pressed on the brakes. The car lifted in the air. It was thrown. I was screaming. Before I hit the ground, I had blacked out.
