Chapter 2 - Fate

At the same time when Elise had just woken up, a woman in her late 30s had just left the psychiatric ward and was on her way out of the hospital with two bodyguards in tow. She had an exhausted expression on her face and her eyes were slightly red.

As she walked through the hospital corridors, she eventually passed by Elise's hospital room and then suddenly stopped.

Her gaze shifted to Elise who was leaning on the bed in the middle of being questioned by the doctor and nurse.

"How alike. She probably would have also been this healthy if it wasn't..." The woman paused but continued to stare at Elise.

After a couple of seconds had passed by, she eventually gestured to one of her bodyguards and said, "John, investigate the identity of that girl."

"Yes, Madame." The blonde foregin bodyguard replied and walked off.

Two days later, Elise's report came back and they found no internal injuries or damage to the brain. It was as if she was the healthiest human alive!

The doctors were very shocked about the results but of course, they couldn't legally do any other testing without the patient's consent.

'It seems like it wasn't all a dream.' Elise thought to herself. For the past two days, she had secretly been testing out the power that shehad used in the other world and found that she could still use it here.

Not only that, but she could feel that she had retained all of her powers from the other world. Possibly even all of her abilities and techniques, but she didn't dare to test it out here at the hospital for obvious reasons.

'But what now…? My memories of Korea are incredibly blurry.' Elise thought to herself then continued, 'I'm still 15…which means I should still be going to high school right now.'

Elise's memory of South Korea is nothing by a fog; she had basically lived many same lives over and over again, each with similar or totally different paths. One could say that she had lived longer than anyone, adding the fact that people in the murim can live up to many thousands of years with their cultivation and Elise was no exception.

As Elise continued to mesmerise in her own thought, a woman in her 30s suddenly came into the room, causing Elise to immediately shift her attention to the woman.

At the same time, Elise had already unconsciously utilised a high level technique to scan her surroundings; afterall the murim world is a dangerous place and Elise had already learnt this the hard way many times. But thanks to her habits, she managed to find out that two men wearing black suits were standing outside of her room, preventing anyone from entering or perhaps even leaving.

While still continuing to scan her surroundings for movement, she looked towards the woman in front of her, 'I don't remember seeing her...'

Even if her memory of South Korea is very blurry, she can at least still remember that she was just an average orphanage girl who knew no one of high status such as the woman in front of her; she was also certain that she had not offended any big shots back in South Korea.

"May I help you...madame?" Elise could remember that back in South Korea, people must be very respectful when addressing those that are younger or have a high social standing that you, similar to how people address each other in the murim world based on power and cultivation.

"Apologies for the late introduction, my name is Sung Young-hee, CEO of Sung Young Corporation or SYC.."

"I'm sorry, I can't remember what SYC is." Elise replied, with no recognition of ever having a relationship with any company or corporation.

The woman gently smiled then said, "That's alright; I had already heard from the doctor that you still have trouble recalling your memories."

Elise starred silently for a second before nodding her head, she was unsure of why this woman would be investigating her medical conditions but most importantly, why would a CEO of a corporation be looking for her in person?

'Was she perhaps the person who ran me over that night.' Elise asked herself, she was able to recover some memories of the incidents but everything was still unclear. All she remembered was crossing the street at night and a car came crashing at her.
