19 Chapter 19 Why don't you ever visit me Mom?

"I honestly think that the head guard is being paid to make your life miserable. Or if not, she was a big fan of the couple and she is making you pay for what you did but considering her personality, option two is almost impossible. The first option is more suiting. "You think so?" Li Fei asked confusion clouding her mind. "Yes I think so," she said. "Okay. How did you end up here?" Li Fei asked this time. "I was betrayed by my fiancee together with the one I called my best friend. They murdered his secretary and placed the murder weapon in my car. That's how I ended up here," she explained emotionlessly. Li Fei's mouth parted in disbelief and she asked," How did you find out that it was them?" "She visited me and bragged about it," answered Liling. "That's horrible! I'm so sorry about that. Why did they do something like that?" she asked.

"They wanted to take over the company my parents left for me. And they succeeded," she said. "I'm so sorry. And how were you sentenced?" "Five years and I've completed one so far," she said. Li Fei suddenly felt sad that she was going to leave her here when she completes her sentence. "And you, what is your sentence?" Liling asked. "Seven years," she said and Liling nodded in understanding. She didn't expect anything less when the matter involved the Jin family.

In the evening as told, Li Fei went back to the health care and the nurse cleaned her wound before applying the medicine and dressed it properly. When it was time for her to leave, she asked," Is the doctor present?" "Yes, he's in his office," the nurse told her. "Can I talk to him?" she asked. "I will ask if he's free," she said before going to his office and she later came back saying that he told her to go inside. "Sure," he said before getting his phone from his trouser pocket and gave it to her. He thought that she might need some privacy and he stood up before saying," I will step out to deal with somethings. Take all the time you need."

She nodded and thanked him then dialed her mother's number which rang without being answered and on the last ring, it was finally answered," Hello?" As soon as Li Fei heard her mother's voice, she didn't know why tears gathered in her eyes and her voice choked. "Mom," she answered in a husky voice. "Li Fei!!!" her mother exclaimed before asking," Is it you my baby?" "Yes, Mom how are you?" she asked as tears flowed from her eyes. "I'm not fine FeiFei. How are you my baby?" "I'm.... fine Mom. Why don't you ever visit me Mom?" she asked this time sobbing.

"It's not that my dear. We've come countless times with Hu Feng but they couldn't let us see you," she said. "Really? Why?" she asked confused. "They just keep on telling us that they are orders from above. Anyway how are you being treated in that horrible place?" she asked.

"Not bad. Everyone is friendly and nice. You shouldn't worry about me," she decided to lie because she knew better than anyone that she won't be leaving this place anytime soon and worrying them for seven years wasn't a good idea.

"Are you sure? Your Dad and I are doing everything in our power to get you out of that place. Don't worry." she said but Li Fei knew that those were false hopes. "Okay Mom. Let me talk to Dad," she said. "He's at work FeiFei. Whose phone is this?" "It's for someone and please don't call to disturb him. I will be the one to call you again if I get another opportunity. I'm not allowed to use prison phones or else I would have called you already," she said.

"And why's that?" "I don't know. I will call Dad right now Mom." "I want us to talk for a while longer FeiFei. I missed you." "I miss you more, Mom but it won't be possible. I only have limited time. I will call you as soon as I get another opportunity. Don't worry about me and take care of yourself. I love you," said Li Fei before hanging up. She immediately called her father who was surprised to hear from her as her mother. After speaking to him for a while, she hung up and called Hu Feng but he didn't pick up. She then decided to return the phone to the owner in fear of him refusing to help her next time. Wiping her teary cheeks and eyes, she left the doctor's office.

Caihong who had been eavesdropping on her conversation left the door the moment he heard her coming out of the office and pretended to have been doing other things.

When Li Fei saw the doctor, she walked up to him and carefully gave him the phone making sure that no one saw her. "Thank you so much doctor," she said. "This is nothing. Have you talked to everyone you wanted?" "Yes, I will be taking my leave," she said. "Wait, have you been crying?" he asked. "Not necessarily crying. I just got emotional when I talked to my parents after so long." "Okay. I will always be ready to help you with anything at anytime. I will be seeing you in the morning," he told her and she thanked him once again before leaving.
