Second chance

As she plunged the silver dagger right through her chest, Rose gasped, choking on her own blood as It spewed off her lips and rolled down like a stream of water. The searing pain of the blade piercing right into her heart stole her breath away instantly. Time seemed to slow down, and in that agonizing moment, her eyes locked with her sister's, betraying a mix of shock and disbelief.

"Do you think you can get away with this?" A cruel, bitter smirk hung on her blood stained lips before she grabbed onto her sister's hands still holding the dagger deep in her chest, not letting go of her.

Ravenna cursed as she struggled to back away, knowing fully well the complications of what could happen If Rose pulled her with her dying body over the cliff.

"Let go of me you sick psycho. Just die!" She tried pulling away but even though Rose felt her life slowly fading as her vision blurred, she persistently held onto the hands around the arm of the dagger, tears dropping from her eyes.

"How could you? You're my sister. I loved you. I cherished you and gave you the world after dad died. Is this how I get repaid? For everything I've done?"

"Oh shut up." Ravenna rolled her eyes as she glared hard at her with so much hate that Rose doubted the person standing right in front of her was her blood sister. "You can't just accept that I've won the battle this round this time around, and for good."

"Battle? That's what this has all been to you. A competition between us? Is that why you also indulged in an affair with my mate?"

Ravenna scoffed in her face, still panting as she struggled to get herself out of her tight grip. "You think Stephan ever loved you? You were living in a delusional world Rose and It was pathetic while it lasted; watching you play a pawn in our world. Maybe in the next life, but this time around, I win."

"No.." Tears kept flowing down her cheeks as she resisted, holding tightly onto Ravenna's hands soiled with her own blood. The pain of the dagger still implanted in her chest was unbearably agonizing, but It couldn't be compared to the excruciating pain in her heart. "If I have to die this way, I will take you down with me."

"Let go of her!" The two sisters turned to the direction of where the familiar voice was coming from, and unlike Ravenna who had a relieved expression on her face, Rose paled as she felt the imminent danger coming when Stephan approached her.

"Stephan..."

She wasn't even given a chance to speak any further before he pulled out a gun and fired three silver bullets at her; one right at her chest and two into her forehead, his eyes looking like that of a murderous beast and not her loving mate. Not the man she had fallen in love with.

The world around her blurred as she felt herself being forcefully pushed backward by Ravenna, hurling back, to the unforgiving cliff's edge. She heard ringing in her ears so loudly that she didn't realize when she had hit the ground. It was as If her whole body had become numb. In her final moments, a surge of regret and a flood of unanswered questions flooded her mind, mingling with the raw agony and pain coursing through her veins. Darkness encroached and her body stilled.

**********

Rose sat up in a flash, her hand outstretched in the air like she was trying to grab hold of something, but the look of shock on her face only turned to one of confusion and disappointment as she realized nothing was in reach. She suddenly raised her head, only realizing she was in a what looked like an abyss filled with void and nothingness. But within that abyss, a glimmer of light emerged, glistening in her eyes which held awe, growing brighter and more radiant until it revealed the ethereal figure of the Moon Goddess herself.

The celestial being stood before her, cloaked in a luminous gown that shimmered like the night sky. Her eyes, as enchanting as the moon itself, held both sorrow and determination as she regarded Rose.

"You're the Moon goddess." She mumbled, still trying to find the right words to say, unable to accept the fact that she was before one of the most powerful beings known to life on earth.

Whispering a chant, the Moon Goddess transported them to a realm veiled by the silvery glow of moonlight. Here, time seemed to stand still, and memories danced like constellations in the sky. Rose realized in shock that she was floating in mid air, but her focus was drawn to the memories playing around her, and It turned out to be hers. These were her memories...

In this mystical realm, the Moon Goddess revealed her birth, right down to when she lost her mother before her father remarried and had Ravenna. Her chest tightened in pain seeing how she had loved her sister and had protected her even from bullies in school back then... the memories were going all too fast, and yet every single one of them, she didn't miss. Her eyes welled up seeing Stephan and how they had met and realized they were mates before they got together and she fell in love with him. Everything seemed to be going well until It took a dark turn. It almost felt like yesterday, watching her past self wake up in a hotel room with no memory recollection of how she got there. She watched her world turn over when her sex tape with the blurred face of a complete stranger travelled across the whole pack, and soon, after the elder council had a meeting days after the media had calmed down from her video outburst, her title as future Alpha was stripped off and instead given to Ravenna who even she felt was more deserving.

It was the same Ravenna who had been by her side the whole time and comforted her that night. How could she have been so blind and stupid not to know her true intentions. Due to the shame of having her nudes around, Stephan and Ravenna arranged a place for her to stay in the woods where they abandoned her for weeks without food nor water leaving her to fend for herself until she went back and realized for herself that her sister had taken everything from her. That was her intention all along, including her mate Stephan. From the leaked sex tape, to her loosing her honor and position and her home in the pack, It was all their doing.

She threatened to expose them, but they drugged her and took her for a drive through the forest where they intended to kill her. She escaped midway and tried to run, and that was how they got in that situation where she was killed and thrown off a cliff.

The last scene of her body growing still after her death was the last image show before everything went blank and they returned back to the abyss.

She broke down, unable to hold back her tears, her heart was in so much pain and agony. Each memory unfolded in her mind repeatedly like a vivid tapestry, painting a haunting portrait of the pain she had endured.

"Do not cry, Rose." Hearing the voice of the moon goddess for the first time which was surprisingly soft and soothing, she stopped crying instantly, raising her eyes to stare into hers. "You've been offered a chance to be brought back to life and given a second chance to set things right. I can understand your fierce desire for revenge and to deal with those who had a hand in your downfall, but remember, revenge may consume you, but it is up to you to find redemption within the darkness. Seek justice, but do not lose yourself in the process."

Rose sniffed, wiping the edge of her eyes, still staring at her in disbelief. "You'll really give me a chance to live again?"

"But alas, there are certain things you should know and rules to abide by as bringing you back to life is not as easy as It may seem."

"Which are?" Rose replied with determination ready for whatever came her way.

"You cannot be brought back to life bearing the same identity. Since you have been brought back to life after death, that makes you immortal so you're forbidden from falling in love with a mortal or your immortality will be taken away from you, and you should know what that means. Lastly, you're currently with child, do you wish to have her or not? The decision is yours."
