1 Chapter 1

The situation Akako was in wasn't the most desirable. He alone was in a pristine white room surrounded by gruesome tools and medical devices. The only thing that he could relate such an environment too were the compounds where lab rats went to die. Despite this less than favorable environment, the only thing Akako could focus on was the upcoming visitor. Memories of the piercing noises and the cold steel extraction device came to mind as he lamented over the fact that he only had moments.

Before long, the door started to creak open and a man in a white lab coat was struck by the calm face masking Akako. Both men saw the sliver of light quickly grow larger and larger as it illuminated the small room. The light was a steady white, allowing one to see the fullness of another's features. But Akako did not see the man, he only saw the stainless steel cart as it approached.

This daze comforted both the man and Akako as it allowed the needle of the syringe to slide into Akako's arm without physical or mental resistance before shooting its thick contents into him.

Akako, despite his cold exterior, was experiencing a pain far greater than he had felt in either of his lives. As the liquid slid into his veins, it pushed aside his blood ripping apart his arm from the inside. His teeth started to push together as he struggled to maintain his uncaring attitude, fighting off the ever increasing temptation to scream.

Akako, sweat dripping from his brow, regressed into himself, snapping out of it minutes later to see a tray of raw meat and a cup of water was placed on his bedside. Blatantly ignoring the risk of sickness, Akako was quick to stuff the meat the down his throat before guzzling on the little water he had. While he lacked any sauce, Akako still eagerly dipped his meat in the dripping blood, creating a strangely satisfying image.

Akako continued to tear apart his meal with his sharp teeth as he reminisced memories, of both the good times and the bad. That life seemed so distant from him now, and he silently accepted the fact that what he had could never be his again. For this, this was Akako's second life.
