33. Strings
Mauve gathered her dress in her hands and walked out of the kitchen. She walked normally until she got outside the door of the kitchen and then started briskly walking. She didn't stop walking until she got to the door of her room. She hesitated a little before stepping in. Her hands slowed as she reached out to touch the door handle. She turned and looked towards Jael's door. He must have heard her leave her room but unlike the day before, he didn't step out of his, even though she had left her room and returned several times already. She shook the thoughts away and stepped into her room.
The windows and curtains were still open. She quickly lit the candles and closed the windows. She couldn't have it open and if she did it now, she wouldn't have to rush when Mill came up with the fruits. She sat on the bed and waited, for some reason, she felt on edge.
