218. Danag

"Sire," Danag said as gently as he could. He could tell he was stepping on thin ice. "I don't think provocation is the way to go about this."

Jael's face darkened and he glared at Danag, his anger unhidden. "Would you rather I sit back and take their insolence?"

"It is a frightening time for all of us. At this period comforting and reassuring the Lords is the right way to go about this." Danag said, keeping his tone neutral.

"I do not have time to babysit a bunch of old Vampires. I have done more for them these past months than they have done in centuries." Jael sneered.

"You were away for ten years, Sire, I know we are vampires but that is enough time for a little seed of doubt to germinate into a full-blown tree. They don't trust you." Danag sighed, his exasperation was leaking out.

"I didn't want to be King, anyone else could have taken my place but they didn't. What do you mean they don't trust me? They chose me."
