Chapter 2

"I..I will not try that again.."

Devany muttered and ducked her head she just wanted him to say what he wanted to tell her so she could leave his presence.

"If you value your dear life you won't..now my bratty aunty is here and we must have breakfast with her and her family.."

Oh no! Devany sighed not again his aunt only knew how to find errors about her and go on and on of how she was not fit to be queen.

She did not even want to be queen.

His aunt did not like her and made trouble with her whenever Slyvian was not around, she was like a sheep kept in a wolves den if care was not taken she would be devoured.

When they got to the dinning hall his aunt and her family were already seated, she did not need to see his aunt's face to know she already had a nasty look.

"You little brat,Do you think you're a queen to be wait upon.."

They were all starving and wanted to eat but they had to wait for some country bumpkin to come down first.

"Aunt mind your words don't forget she's with me.."

The woman face ashened how dare he threaten her.

"I Mariam Hawthorne do not fear the words of a man.."

Slyvian only smiled and didn't say anything, little did Mariam know her words would make her to suffer tonight.

"Mother it's only been a few minutes, calm down and wait don't cause trouble.."

Mariam daughter Celeste spoke up, unlike her mother she respected Slyvian and liked Devany, she was nice to her and taught how to do embroidery yet her mother spoke ill words about her.

"Humph!.."

They walked into the dining room seeing Mariam's distorted face, it disgusted her but she didn't show it rather she smiled at Celeste and sat down.

"I'll say this once again how can such a thing sit among us royals, she would eat with the servants like every other servant.."

Slyvian face grew colder and colder with each word Mariam said, as his hand slowly clenched into a fist as his heart drummed wildly from anger.

Devany only pursed her lips and didn't say anything, but she had lost her appetite to eat and began to play with her food.

Slyvian noticed this and frowned he dropping his cutleries and began to feed Devany she wanted to refused but when she saw his angry eyes she kept mumb and begrudgingly allowed him to feed her.

"Aunt..when I let you step into this castle I told you to never to get past my boundaries seems like you've gotten too cocky!.."

Mariam scoffed she was his father sister what was he going to do to her. However Slyvian next words made her hairs stand.

"Apologize to her.."

"What! Impossible! Slyvian you expect me your aunt to apologize to a country bumpkin who has no status she doesn't even bear the status of your wife! She is nothing but a country bumpkin who has no class..."

Devany eyes shook as she forcefully swallowed the food in her mouth as her eyes dropped to her already clenched fist.

Slyvian paused and laid back on the chair, his hand intertwined . He had a slight smile on his face as he stared at his aunt.

If she did not apologize, he would kill her this instant how dare she make his woman uncomfortable.

"I will never apologize to this country bumpkin!.."

Mariam spat out again it was evident that she disliked Devany a lot, Celeste didn't bother to help her mother she had already dug a trap for herself.

"Then you choose death over life. Funny how one can be alive this minute and dead the next.."

"Slyvian what are you doing!"

Slyvian fiery red eyes stared at Mariam coldly a bone chilling smile appearing on his god like face.

"Do you choose death over life.."

Mariam sneered and fell quiet, she looked at Devany with anger but her moth didn't make a sound she was still unwilling to apologize.

"You should have respected my woman this disrespect has cost you your life.."

Slyvian smiled and stood up appearing before Mariam in a flash,his hand wrapped around her neck.

Mariam heart shook she opened her mouth wanting to beg but Slyvian didn't give her the opportunity the time for begging had long past.

With that Slyvian snapped Mariam neck not caring if she was his aunt or that he had killed his cousin's mother.

Her eyes widened as she looked at Slyvian with shock, he actually snapped her neck she tried to speak but all her vocal cords had broken to pieces.

Her body fell to the ground with a thumph, her opened eyes staring straight into the opened space, as Celeste who witnessed the scene could only sigh and shake her head in pity.

Just like that her mother was gone.She was not surprised either

Devany had the worst blow as she stared at the dead body on the floor, seconds ago she was living and breathing now she had become a empty vessels.

The maids quickly took out the body and cleaned the blood, things like this usually happened in the castle they were used to it.

Everyone ate their breakfast quietly,no said a word they ate as fast as they could and left the room hurriedly.

"Brother you've killed my mother, what am I to tell my father.."

Celeste finally spoke up her eyes had no sadness, Mariam was not her mother she was adopted by the Blake family.

"Leave your father to me, you can stay in the castle for as long as you like and leave when you feel like.."

Celeste smiled at Slyvian and then at Devany before leaving the room, now it was only Devany and Slyvian in the room.

It was only then Devany spoke up "I would not like you killing someone just because they said some few unkind words, they are humans beings and not sheeps.."

She did not like Mariam but she never wanted her dead.

"Her saying these unkind words to you was her crime, because I'm the only one allowed to mistreat you.."
