1 Cheat and Die
She looked at him with a weird, wide grin on her face, a foreign look in her eyes.
His heart beat fast, his palms beginning to sweat as he gulped down his saliva.
"Vari… What… What are you doing?"
The handsome young man fumbled around and fell backwards onto the ground as the young woman continued towards him. The knife in her hand was already dripping with dark red blood. With each step she took, the bottom of her black heels was dyed red by the blood. Although it started to stick to the floor, Vari paid it no mind, taking steady steps toward the man who used to be the love of her life.
Donald, my love," Vari paused, she could not believe she was saying these words, "Just lie down quietly and it will all go away soon."
Vari pushed Donald down to the ground with the heel of her shoe and lunged forward. With all her might, she stabbed him in the chest. As she withdrew the knife from the wound, blood splattered across the room in a wide arc. The rush was intoxicating - Vari's adrenaline was at an all time high as she continuously plunged the knife down, feeling the anger and betrayal leave her body as his blood rushed out.
He tried to reach for a nearby vase but Vari stopped him by stabbing his fore arms. She dragged the knife through the flesh, severing his tendons. Donald screamed in agony as blood pooled all around.
She rolled her eyes and blew away a strand of blonde hair in her eyes.
"Calm down, it's just a little bit of blood."
After a couple of minutes, Vari was panting for air and the screaming had stopped. The adrenaline was waning fast as she stood up and gazed upon the carnage she had caused. The blood drenched knife slipped out of her hand and fell to the ground with a wet thud. Vari looked over and noticed a stranger. And then she realised she was looking in a mirror.
Looking at her reflection, she could see how maniacal she looked, messy hair and hands slick with blood. But her eyes were still her, cool and sad and slightly different, but still hers.
At the back of her mind, a voice echoed out.
