Alerick's POV
I'm the crowned prince of vampire and soon to be the king only if I agree to marry the lady my father desires and I got to know she was none other than my mate. " but father I don't want to marry that princess just because she is my mate, you do know I love Clara she is my life I cant possibly betray her like this I promised to marry her" I tried to explain my reason to My father Alec Tereshkova. " To HELL WITH THAT PROMISE, listen son if you want to continue as the next king you must marry Liorana and if it not your mate you can produce a strong vampiric heir that the kingdom needs. You will be left with nothing but a piece of cloth if you refuse to marry your mate and i can do nothing but follow the law of the kingdom." my father said in his dark tone, and there was my mother Amora Tereshkova standing near the window holding a glass of blood and listening to our conversation, my mother was also a vampire princess, she was elegant with gray wavy hair and honey brown eyes, she had a calm and mysterious personality.
" think carefully and decide we need to defeat the werewolves therefore we need a strong heir to take our legacy forward." he patted my back and hold my mother's hand and left my chamber. I understood very well and I will marry her but wont give my heart nor my affection. She will suffer I swore.
Next morning I went to meet clara, she was a pretty woman in her teen age, her father was a tailor but they were not greedy like others that's what captured my heart for the girl, she preferred a simple life she had no desire for any luxuries and being a vampire was handy, we royals have the speciality to read and catch peoples' and vampires' lies easily. So I knew she was a true one from heart.
I got on my horse and went to her small home, I had to tell her. The whole kingdom knew about our relationship, her family was scared of me at first, as I was not very friendly, very little spoken and always had a stern face, I hardly ever smiled but slowly they got used to my cold personality but Clara was not like others she spoke to me openly at our first meeting she was selling cookies in the street she approaches me with a big smile on her face and I was roaming like ordinary man but most people didn't dare to talk to me, at the very first sight I was amused by her, I wanted her by my side forever but fate had something else for me.
I knocked on her door, her mother opened it, she got a bit startled then put on a broad smile on her face. She welcomed me in, I sat on the couch. " please make yourself comfortable I will call Clara she will be very happy to see you" She said with a smile. I felt a tug in my heart I felt very guilty and shame for my doings but I can't do anything. She will find someone way better than me who won't be selfish like me.
"Alerick" she came down in her yellow gown, it was simple yet looked so elegant on her. I embraced her tightly, she seemed to stiffen for a second then she relaxed in my arms, I snuggled in her neck, "Love, It is improper before marriage" She said teasingly, I couldn't take it anymore, it was breaking me from inside. I pulle dout from the embrace and gained some courage to speak. " Hey are you ok love?" she asked worryingly. I looked down and couldn't meet her eyes. " listen love I didn't mean to do it I have no choice My kingdom needs me if my cousin gets the throne he will not let my people and humans live in peace, there will be bloodshed and conflicts. The vampire citizens are not that strong to fight with royal vampires, so not to have any conflicts I must takeover the throne but I have to lose you to do become the king and marry my mate a human princess, Look im extremely sorry to break my promise to be with you forever I couldn't do anything for you please forgive me." I confessed in one breath. I looked at her she was listening carefully and nodded in understanding.
" are you not mad at me"? She shook her head " no silly why would I what you are doing for your kingdom is a great deed, you have a very big heart and going to be a brave king. The people will be proud of you. You shouldn't worry about me I understand very well, you should takeover the throne for the peace of the country. I will pray for your success my king" She said while sobbing. "" you know you are the one with big heart, I'm so glad to meet you an give you my heart. Remember nothing can change my love for you" I said then captured her soft pink lips with mine. It was full of love, sadness and a slow goodbye kiss. It ended after few seconds. " Goodluck" she said with smile. I cupped her face and said "Thanks love take care". I was about to leave then " Are you not going to stay a bit more dear?" lady Clerkson asked.
" oh no my great apologies I must return to castle now maybe some other day, " I said with a apologetic look. Then I left for the castle I had to give my father the answer he was waiting for.
