6 Chapter 6

"My father is what happened…" I answer, sniffing the air. "I shouldn't have drank all those bottles for lunch… cuz now my thirst is driving me crazy." I add.

Just then a black limo pulls up and a man with black hair and black eyes in a black suit walks over to me. "Hannah Vampire?" He asks and I nod. "I'm your Uncle Kuro. It's nice to finally meet you." He says, then notices my friends. "I assume these are the few that you trust with our secret?" He asks.

"Yeah, but Uncle why are you here? Are you here because mom's dead? Or are you here for me?" I ask in return. William, Yami, Shizen, and Karera move closer to me, clearly ready to protect me at all costs. I noticed that Midnight had followed me outside so I picked him up. He has one of mom's scarves and my cell phone in his mouth. "Thanks Midnight." I whisper gently into my cat's ear.

Kuro then answers with, "I'm here for you and because your mother is dead. I'm here to take you away from your father. Your mother told me what your father might do to you if he found out what she was and it seems her predictions were correct." He touches the bruise under my right eye causing me to wince in pain. "Come, I have snacks for all of you." He adds, leading the five of us to the black limo. The six of us climb into the limo, I'm sitting next to William with Midnight in my lap, Yami is on William's right and Shizen and Karera are across from Yami and William while Kuro is across from me.

"Mr. Kuro, what kind of powers and abilities do vampires have?" Yami asks with a tilt of her head.

"Well, it depends on the way we were raised. Hannah was raised with little to no social interaction, so her powers will be based mainly on animals. The one power all vampires shared was and is the ability to become a bat. Of course my sister had the uncanny ability to turn into a black cat, which would mean that Hannah, too, will have this ability. And no, Midnight is not Hannah's mother, Midnight is a he. Besides, I bought Midnight as a birthday present for Hannah's first birthday. Luckily, Midnight is a special breed of black cat and lives longer than any normal cat." Kuro answers diligently, handing me a plastic bottle full of blood. I quickly drain the bottle happily and smile.

"Thanks Uncle. I really needed that." I say earnestly. I then begin to pet Midnight now that he's in my lap. Kuro hands everyone the snacks they like and they begin eating.

"Your friends are curious people, but will they be able to keep our secret a secret for very long my precious niece?" Kuro asks me telepathically. He's the only telepath out of all of my mother's siblings, so my mother normally hung out with him more when she was younger. I remember the story mom used to tell me about Kuro and how he would use his powers to trick others.

I shrug. "I trust them, plus Midnight likes them, otherwise he wouldn't have followed me outside with my phone." I say, wrapping mom's favorite scarf around Midnight's neck, luckily it was small enough for him. I smile and go back to petting Midnight as the driver of the limo begins to drive away from the house I thought of as home before mom died.
